Honestly? It sounds like you dodged a bullet. If he's that insecure that he jumps to conclusions rather than trying to see what you are going through or... I don't know, communicating with you, he sounds like he's not the type of person you need in your life, especially if you're coping with addiction: you need a strong support system that will be there for you.

I know you're hurt right now and blaming yourself, but ask yourself, "Do you really need that type of negativity in your life when you're dealing with this right now?"
If you really want him back that badly, you can try explaining the situation to him, but you have to ask yourself if he's worth it- and do you think he will support you if you plan on going clean.

You are absolutely right. I already tried to tell him but he says i use my mental illness as an excuse and when i really get myself together to find him in two years. I'm better off…

That’s a tough one. Did you talk to him about it? Is your past addiction a deal breaker for him?

I suffer from bi polar so he never dealt with this and on top of my shady behavior due to my addiction he feels like enough is enough. I tried to explain to him I'm committed to this change and even sent him a fruit basket he ended up telling me to find him in two years.

Bipolar disorder is not “shady behavior”… it’s a medical condition you need to keep regulated, which means you do know not to F with alcohol or any recreational junk….

Because you didn’t come clean to him from the start it’s not super surprising that he’s hurt, upset and not trying to maintain his ties with you…. But perhaps that’s a good thing… an opportunity to start fresh.

You may not have been cheating but it is true that your loyalty was divided between him and the drug. The thing to have done is to explain what is hurting you. He'd either want to help you with the pain or not. You probably assumed he wouldn't and so snuck the addiction behind his back. You see how that made things worse, now - how trading a quick and temporary escape for lasting strife is the only deal there is when it comes to any addiction. You need help with whatever caused you to want the escape. You have always needed that help. But no one can help you if you insist on doing it on your own. And if you insist on doing it on your own, you will.

Why hide it though? If you’re acting strangely with no explanation, then it’s a logical thought. You both sound like communication is something you need to work on.

I chose to hide it because i was trying to be this perfect person he saw me as when i wasn’t.

Isn’t there anyway you can prove that you weren’t cheating? Maybe you gotta be honest with everything and talk to him

2 years? Guess it’s gonna take you that long to get over your addiction. Maybe he just wants out of the relationship anyway because in two years, I’m sure he’s going to find somebody else.
