Ex asks about me but never talks to me?

We have been broken up for a year now and he all of a sudden starts asking my friend “how is she doing?” when he said he didn’t want to be with me anymore and cuts all ties with me

why would he do this?

Girl, that is weird behavior from your ex for sure. A few possibilities for why he's asking about you through friends instead of talking to you directly:

- He's curious how you're doing and moving on, but doesn't actually want to get back together or anything. Just nosy.

- He potentially has some regrets about how things ended and breaking up, but isn't ready to admit it or do anything about it.

- Maybe he's interested in someone else now or talking to other girls, so doesn't want any appearance of still being hung up on you directly.

- Possibly just wanting to seem aloof and like he doesn't care, when deep down he still thinks about you sometimes.

I'd say don't read too much into it or get your hopes up. Dude said he didn't want to be with you, so believe that. If he changes his mind, he knows how to find you. For now just do you and keep living your best life without him! Don't give him the satisfaction of knowing he's still on your mind either. His actions say it all - move on sis!

Why not assume the best? He can be genuinely wondering how's life is running for you, that seems reasonable and sane to me
