Update my girlfriend told me if I didn't plan a wedding in 5 days she would leave me. I got her a ring and had the wedding date set. I showed up she didn't and left me for a guy she barly known on my birthday. Aka likely cheating on me the whloe time. 8 year relationship down the drown. I did ask her if we could talk for closure but I was blocked. We share two kids together who adopted by family friends but we both still have contract with our kids

There is no right or wrong when it comes to these…there is nice or not ok so nice. In this case…it wasn’t nice. But who are we to judge.

updates… she is obviously not the one you want to be married to… so she had to make a decision…. Perhaps you already knew she wanted to be married. 8 years later and 2 kids… no ring, no marriage is an insult to a woman.

i would have left without giving birth to any kids. To me… love and commitment and respect has to be there within 2-3 yrs… then ring, marriage, kids… etc.

Sorry to hear that, yeah there's definitely a right and wrong way to break up. Manipulation and lying shouldn't be used. The best way is to talk in person for closure, but if the other party doesn't want to then they at least shouldn't add fuel to the fire. What goes around comes around, it's easier said than done but just remember she gave you the chance to meet someone better than her.

Not sure about “right” and “wrong’ ways to break up by definition but definitely agree that people should break up with their partners showing them the respect that they would want if the situation reversed. I appreciate that sometimes it may seem like they don’t deserve it by their actions or what led up to the break-up but it’s just decency and good closure

Yes, i think it would be more mature if both of you had a sit down and have a talk about what is going on and what your thoughts are on the matter and if it is going to lead to a break up let the person know right there and then if the relationship is not going to work out instead of leaving the other person to wonder what went wrong.
