What does it mean when my avoidant ex wants to be friends after our breakup?

Never be friends with an ex, ever. Even if it’s not a problem now, it will be in the future and that’s a fact.

It really is tbh, and it’s tricky cuz twice now she’s had a boyfriend and had to leave me while my feelings linger, but she’d then come back shortly due to her avoidant behavior in her relationships

Exactly. It’s a waste of time. Don’t even wait for a next time and just cut her off. If she messages I’d honestly just say, “you need to leave me alone and move on. This isn’t healthy for either or us. We will never be friends or anything more.” And leave it at that or you could just completely ghost her and never message ever again.
I’d never even go into a relationship with someone who was still in contact with someone they either dated or slept with, ever. Biggest red flag from both people. People need to learn to heal and move on from things before entertaining someone else.
