I could imagine that it means that he/she is finally over you and that he/she made a cross over you. Perhaps that he/she thought that there may still be a chance of getting together but after a year, that option has definitely vanished.

Blocking someone after so long simply means that the person blocking you has decided not to have anything to do with you anymore and that you are part of the past without an option to leave a door ajar.

That could also mean that the new person in the ex's life has asked him/her to cut all ties and to start with a new slate.

interesting thing is 1 year ago we already unfollowed eachother on instagram so her new boyfriend didn't have any chance to see if I am still there and I never contacted her aswell she never did too and what do you think about this?

Perhaps that she thought that her relation would not last that long but now, it seems that it is still going strong and she does not want to renew contact.
