Of course. It fades slowly when you can find something else to keep your mind occupied. The more you think about it, the worse you make it for yourself. Meeting someone better always helps, if no other reason, they keep your mind occupied instead. I am pretty recently single and I have mostly stopped thinking about it but just a few minutes of boredom can make it creep back in. Keep your mind and your body occupied as much as possible.

Yes, it does. If you are strong enough, you can make it go away quite easily. I have done it several times.

It's been 38 years since a particular breakup occurred in my life.
I still get those twinges that tear me apart for a second or two.
They end quickly, but when the twinges come, it's like it's 1988 all over again for a few seconds.

I'm not sure, I never had a breakup, or a relationship. All I had was unrequited love... and it takes years of emotional pain before it ends.
