I only want people who have cheated to answer this.

Question

So, here it is, a man cheated on me, it was during a big change in his life, so I forgave him and we are together and I'm learning to trust him again. After he cheated, he felt said guilty he broke up with me. (Obviously we are still together).

He says he cares so much about me and he is so sorry. He lets me go through his phone and everything. I know he is sorry, but also I know sorry doesn't always cut it. He has never cheated on anyone before me, and he promises to never hurt me again.

So, girls and boys that have cheated, have you ever cheated on some one and then felt so bad that you really did never do it again.

I have cheated on some one back when I was in high school, and yes, I felt so bad that I really have never done it again, so yea, just wandering if it is possible for other people.

AND YES, I do know the saying "Once a cheater always a cheater."

And I do know cheating can be genetic.

And I know that most will cheat again, trust me I know this, every boyfriend I have had has cheated, and my dad cheated on my mom for 11 years, so I really don't need to here anything about him cheating again, I understand that is a risk already.

A lot of people cheat in one way or another, they "fancy" (the the British say) other people but they manage to hold back the sex...so what counts as cheating?

Is it just flirting? Going to lunch with a co-worker that you "fancy"? Or going the whole nine-yards and having sex or kissing?

Cheating has been going on since the beginning of time, it's natural and it's a by-products of an outdated system or tradition rather that should be done away with. It's called marriage, and it's a relic of religion.

Sure there are advantages to being with one person and that's fine. But people feel they must commit to ONE other person otherwise they won't fit into our society and THAT'S where the cheating begins! I hope that makes sense because it's a very important point.

People are getting married who shouldn't be getting married, and the whole concept of marriage is outdated. So it's no surprise that people are cheating left and right. In fact, many people cheat, only a few get caught, and still fewer confess to it. 50% of marriages end in divorce, so right off the bat you have 50% of people in a marriage who want to cheat but do it the right way (by divoricing) then 50% of the other 50% either do it and don't care of do it and confess. Reality can be harsh, but it's best we all accept this and find a better way to be in a relationship with each other rather than the rediculous concept of marriage. And what happens if you live to 130 (which may people in the younger generations will!)? That means if you marry before 30 you'll spend 100yrs of you life with one person!

ok if you like him and want to forgive him then it does not matter if you think he might cheat just forgive him and move on if he cheats again well then cross that bridge when you get their. as far as if it is possible depends on the person for me I cheated on my wife three times and I felt guilty every time. but it wasn't untill I thought I might lose her for real that I could honestly say I would never cheat again. but now its kinda to late  because our marriage in really on the rocks and  because I cheated she has a real hard time trusting me so now I have to work extra hard to earn back her trust and it is so hard  because every day I feel her slipping away.

well.. the thing is that the relationship sucks after it. your partner does no trust u, there is lack of respect and it comes out every other fight. people say they forgive you but they never really do. I cheated on my boyfriend. he got ot know about it. he decided to forgive me. but after that he kept on taunting me about it... going through my stuffs..my cell phone.. it was too much to handle..all this negativity in the relationship. so I broke up with him.

i mean I know I cheated him and that was bad but that does not give anyone the right to treat me like a criminal and keep on investigating what I am doing all the time. either you forgive,forget and give the person a chance or you just dump the cheater.

I've never cheated but girl get your shit together. there's so many men out there that would never even dream of hurting you. Men that would cherish you and respect you. Men that would never break your trust or jeopardize their chances at being with you. Imagine if he gave you a disease. If you wanna waste your time and find out if "Once a cheater always a cheater" is true then go ahead. But you deserve better and better is out there.

I cheated on a boyfriend before, twice.
It sickens me and turns my stomach sideways.
I've been single for 2 years now because I don't want to be with anyone until I'm prepared to fully commit -- that means learning to love me and stop being insecure, trust the other person, and handle being alone.
I hate that I made the same mistake twice, but I've never ever thought about doing it again. Third time is not the charm here.

I cheated over 25 years ago, I felt so guilty I couldn't deal with it and I swore I'd never do it again. I didn't stop cheating bc I got caught, I stopped bc I didn't like myself. I will say that when you are young and your hormones are raging, you make mistakes that you INSTANTLY regret the exact moment after you nut (post nut clarity). That is why guys bail so quick after first time sex with someone, their hormones wanted the person, not their post nut conscious.

So once a cheater always a cheater is definitely not true. Once a CAUGHT cheater, always a cheater is probably true 90% of the time.

I believe if you cheat on someone, and they decide to give you another chance, you deserve to always accept being a suspect and the more you are an open book, over time the more they can trust you again, instead of having an attitude of 'that was two years ago, get over it." The more you resist the more the healing will never begin. It is a small price to pay for being given a second chance.

I think the biggest crime is allowing someone to give you their time and life and betray them and be the perfect liar, pretending everything is ok. Letting them be faithful to you. while you selfishly do whatever you want.

i cheated once on a girlfriend. She never knew, and even though our relationship wasn't particularly serious and we knew it would never lead anywhere, I felt so bad and guilty afterward and knew that I would never cheat on a girl again because the feeling of guilt was overwhelming. You learn from your mistakes and if it's the first time he's ever cheated then maybe he had a similar experience to me. Did he tell you he had cheated or did you find out? Anyway, I think he's being sincere.

I dated this girl sadly too get over a guy... He was badly leading me on and emotionally manipulating me, and I ended up cheating on her for him... I hated myself so badly to the point I began to self harm again. The reason I did it was out of self loathing more than anything, I hated myself so much that I thought "i deserve to be a screw up, and to be used", but part of it was I felt so much hatred towards myself that I just wanted to feel loved in that moment. I still hate myself cause of this. I ended dating him, was a horrible decision, but at least karma bit me in the ass because he ended up cheating on me.
