How do you tell a guy you like someone else?

I've been talking to this guy for while now and he started liking me and just the other day I started dating my best friend. I don't know how to tell the other guy with out hurting him that I have someone now.

There's no way to avoid hurting this guy. He will feel hurt, angry, disappointed, rejected, etc. That's all normal, and he has a right to feel those emotions.

But you can help reduce his pain, and shorten his recovery time, by being direct and blunt. "I've met someone else. It's over between you and me. I'm sorry this hurts you."

Don't try to be friends with the guy. Tell him he has one conversation to ask all his questions, then you're moving on without him.

Then, never contact him again and ignore him if he contacts you. No contact can be difficult, but it's best in the long term.
