My 'crush' contacted me after 2 years of silence

2010: After a year and half of mind games, giving me very open signals that he liked me, I made the first step and decided to finally break the ice and talk to him. We got to know each other, yadda yadda. I eventually asked him out...Surprise, surprise! He wasn't interested in a relationship at that time. We kept contact as friends but eventually started drifting off; me because of the embarrassment of my rejection and him because he was supposedly uninterested and our friendship was made awkward because I admitted my feelings. Then out of the blue he admitted that he liked me a lot but wasn't over his ex. I pretended to be okay with it even though I was hurt...but he got mad at me for not having a "stronger reaction", I guess he expected me to insist we should still get together or whatever, but I didn't. It ended in a fight, he blocked me, we never talked to each other in school again even though I did try to apologize to him face-to-face, but he brushed me off in front of EVERYONE. He got back with his ex, never looked back ^ graduated that year. I never saw him anymore.

Now I just started college.. 2 days ago I get a random message + friend request from him saying "hey, it's been forever, I missed you. We should meet up sometime." and I don't know what to make of it. Getting over him was so hard. It took me a year to get rid of my angry feelings and then another to mentally tell myself: "you're done with him" and now he's decided to come back into my life when it's convenient. Just that one message already got my heart pumping. I hate that he has this effect on me..

Thing is, I don't know whether to reply or ignore him; he had been dating his ex up but they had a messy breakup in April (or so my friends say) and now he wants to get with me.. It just sounds, I dunno, weird? Like I'm a replacement or a rebound, I've always just been a second choice. What would you do in my shoes..?

hmmm this is a tough one and I'm sorry to hear what happened to you. I personally think being honest like you have been on here would be the best approach with him. who really knows what's going on with him too. sometimes people do wise up in terms with how they treat others and sometimes its too late as it sounds like it may be with him. so take it from there and I hope all works out for you. take care.
