Is it normal to think of your ex everyday?

He was my first Love, was with him for 2 years 1 months. We have been apart now for 18 Months, and Everyday he is in my head. Is this Normal?

No, it is not normal.

There can be two reasons why this is happening:

1. Psychological:

May be there are unresolved issues which keep coming to your mind. May be you think you could have done something to make it last. May be you invested too much into the relationship and did not get enough in return and you feel cheated and rejected.

2. Physiological:

Some times hormone imbalance causes OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder). If you have that the same thoughts keep going round and round in your head and you can not get rid of it. Do you keep going back to check if the door is closed, even though you just closed it?

The best way to get over is:

1. Make new friends. Go to parties and meet new people.

2. Play some sport. Its important to be in a high energy level.

3. Discuss your feelings with a close friend and get sympathy.

4. Help others in trouble or who are unahppy. This way you will realize that you are not the only one with problems.

im not a doctor, but I would say that is not "normal," but then again, what the heck is "normal."

i just dated a girl for 15 months and within a week I was over it.

it's different for everyone really, but to have been apart for 18 months and to still think about him you have to address that.

talk to him.

you might get hurt, but it's better you confront it.

Because it is a first love, it is really understandable, but I think you might be surprised that it is easier to get over somebody if you keep yourself busy. If you are out experiencing new things, meeting people, and meeting new guys you will find yourself gradually stop thinking about missing your ex, because you will become busy focusing on other relationships. The first thing I did when I brokeup with my ex was have a couple days of being upset, then, I found some single friends to go out with. We were having so much fun that I had almost forgotten how upset I was before. He might of been great, but there are other great people out there too. Have fun, and see this as an opportunity to interact with some other people, and great guys. If you have the time to ponder, you will ponder and analyze everything-that will make it harder to get past.

I guess it is normal, especially if he was your first love. My friend told me after I broke up with my first love and couldn't forget him for many years that "every woman can't forget her first love. The first love is always shining, and we tend to think it was the best. Don't be pulled back to your first love which doesn't exist now. Focus on the good part of a man in front of you or you will be meeting in the future." He will be feding away little by little as you continue to date with other new guys. The important thing is you do not focus on what was good for your first love but you focus on why you two broke up.

I do too. It's been 10 months since the break up. You should listen to this song, "I Still Ain't Over You" by Augustana. It pretty much sums me up. lol

At the end of the day, it hurts a lot unless I'm exhausted.

But I think about him from morning to night unless I'm with friends and I'm not talking about him or if I'm REALLY busy. It sucks. I hope you find peace in your mind. I try to myself.

im in the same boat .. me and my ex (which was both of our first loves) were together for 5 years and have been broken up for 8 months .. but my major mistake has been still seeing him on a regular basis and still sleeping with him (niether one of us have had another boyfriend or girlfriend since the break up) .. I know I need to stop contact all together but when I'm away from him he is all I think about and I can't stand to not talk to him ... so yea I think your situation is normal

I think its normal...by choice... What you should do is, realize that you aren't together anymore and move on. stop thinking about him. Keep yourself occupied. I understand he was your first love, but you are broken up now, for quite a long time. You aren't doing yourself any good by thinking of him constantly, and you are probably scaring away any other guy that has an interest in you because of this...some guy who is probably better for you than your ex.

Some people need more time than others. But I found I thought about my ex a lot more when I was alone or wasn't keeping myself busy. I think it really helps if you go out more and try to keep your mind occupied with other things and other people.

It sounds like you really loved him. I can relate and glad I'm not alone. It's been a year since my ex and I seperated and I miss him and think of him often, more than I wished I did. I hope that one day he will wake up and realize he has lost something special and miss me and think of me all the time too, and it would be beautiful to reconcile our differences and be back together... Hard to say when he's been with a girl for bout' 8 months now tho' =(

I do that every hour ...since 1 year. Sometimes when I am at work it comes down to 5-6 times a day. Keep yourself busy!

Just 1 month I pursued her, she then went to another guy, but she always kept staring at me, sometimes inviting me to talk. She did continue the stares for 2 years. So I felt she was into me even though she was with the other guy. But I also believe for a larger part that she played with me. I was her toy.
