Valentines Day, February 14th. Named for St. Valentine. Patron Saint Valentinus. People giving gifts, people giving flowers. Meeting on people on top of the Empire State Building...
We forget about what happens to other people who have lost loved ones on that day? Car accidents, died from illiness in hospitals, or worse. We may not have a connection with these people, but we dont take into account for other people, but that doesn't mean we should have our own happiness.
Since this is "myTake" I will tell you why I am not a fan of Valentines Day. around 1995 I met someone when chatrooms were in. I thought she liked me, until she seen my picture. She told my friend that I was "Totally Repulsive and Ugly". How does this relate to Valentines Day, simple, Sleepless in Seattle.
The whole movie sequence from them talking to "Doctor Laura" to the dacing on New Years Eve, the football scence (Super Bowl) and to the meet up, on Valentines Day, plays like an endless loop (Like Groundhog Day in my head)
Bad memories. I may have had someone in my life, but they did help with the memories being erased and making new ones.
Also, I know of a family member in law enforcement who lost someone on that day.
I am sure they are many successful stories on Valentines Day, but when you reach a certain age and you can't get those memories out of your mind. You begin to wonder is there ever a happy ending?

365 days of the year a tragedy happens. Does that mean birthdays, graduations, birth of a child, marriage etc shouldn't be celebrated?
My heart goes out to you but if someone chooses to celebrate their happiness that should be okay.
Just know that , some people can relate to you not everyone is in love on valentines day, those that seem like they are may be pretending. It's easy to put on a show when you have an audience.
