Valentines Day.
A topic hotly debated by all, and especially at this time of year.
Putting aside whether you think it's a commercial scam, a horrific day because of the true meaning behind it, or whether you are single, I would like to say why I do celebrate Valentines Day when I have another half (and how I celebrate when I don't!)
1. It's an excuse to show love and be romantic
Now, hear me out on this one.
I know, I know. Why do you need a special day to show someone you love them? Well, rightly so, you don't. And I'm not saying I don't show love throughout the year, BUT, this is a time of year when I can use it as an excuse! Whether it's my boss, my friends, my family, it's time when I go LEAVE ME ALONE I'M HAVING DATE NIGHT and nobody rolls their eyes and says "eurgh, just move it?" or "eurgh, another?!". From someone who is a carer, helps run a business, and has always had multiple jobs, I've spent the last 2 years working 6 days a week, 60 hours +. It didn't leave much time. But, I use Valentines as a no questions asked to everyone to allow me that special time with my boyfriend. He has love through the year, but we both put down our chores, our responsibilites, and watch a film with some wine together.
2. It's a reminder of how important it is to have time together
We've all at one point or another in our lives let commitments take over. How many times have you seen a break up on here and people have said "if I had just spent more time with them" or "they felt second to my job" or "it's hard balancing everything" ? It's not nice, it's not fair and hey, it happens. Valentines Day, if celebrated, can be that time to remember how nice it is to just be... together.
3. It puts your relationship into perspective
Maybe you aren't as cuddly as before. Maybe you aren't as spontaneous. Relationships change and develop and sometimes it's good to ask yourself... am I changing with this person? Is this relationship still right? And a night together being romantic can really put that into perspective for you.
4. It's nice!
It's nice just to be a bit lovey dovey and be that sickening couple we've all come to love and hate
5. And when you're single...
It's nice to know you can curl up with wine and pizza and know that nobody is going to judge you or steal that last slice. You can either sob into it and let all those pesky feelings out, or embrace being a single pringle.

This isn't fair! Just one point dedicated to singles? :(
Okay, so I lumped the positives into one.
You can feel whatever you feel without judgement.
You can embrace being alone.
You can have whatever you want when you want.
You can spend money on you and only you.
Whatever you do, you do it for yourself.
Ok, thanks a lot! :)
You're welcome.
Being single doesn't have to be bad, and sometimes people in relationships crave to be alone, even if it's the bed for night. It's important to give the other person space - that's where singlehood sometimes has the upper hand!
Nice reasons and a very cute Take :)
