If a guy responds with 'hopefully soon' what does it mean?

I was texting a guy and said that we should catch up again sometime if he's free. cos he's always at work.
he replied saying, yeah that would be nice, hopefully soon :-)
I'd rather he just be honest about if he really is interested in hanging out or not, cos he added hopefully soon it makes me think he is, but then he could be being 'nice'

He's saying that he would like to meet up with you to catch up, and allowing to establish when and where.
