I can understand this, have you heard of submissive men, I think your boyfriend might just be one of them, maybe he is not scared but is rather submissive to you, I mean he respects you as a person and doesn't want to hurt you ever. It could also be possible that he was brought up to be like that. That means you will have the power in the relationship, you are the one who would be in charge. Don't worry he is fine, nothing wrong if he is one of the submissive men, one thing you can be sure off is he will respect you always and will always listen to you.
Won't you like such men? they are one of the best men to be with. If you realize he is submissive you can also ask him to a little assertive at times, so that you and him both feel good.

If he's threatening to kill himself if you leave, call a domestic abuse hotline. That is a SERIOUS red flag. Sorry to not answer your question, but your boyfriend is psychologically abusive if he's threatening to kill himself, or threatening to harm you or anyone you know in that way.

Man, why people choose to be with people like that (other than fear, considering he is obviously a liability to himself and others and you) is beyond me. This guy is obviously an emotional abuser.
Umm if he's saying those things you need to report this to a school authority ASAP.
