Guys, What does "Maybe we will see each other again sometime :D haha" mean after a first date?

I went on a lunch date with a guy. He ended the date with that statement. Afterwards, I msged him to thank him for lunch. He replied that with that statement again that "MAYBE we will see each other again". Is he trying to gauge if i would like to see him again too, or is that his way of rejecting me?
I want to add that he was a talkative guy and didn't seem too shy.

A: He isn't interested and is trying to turn me down gently

B: He is trying to see if I want to see him again

I went against all my friend's advice and msged him with "haha.. is that a question". He has not replied since. I think that answers my question.
