I have a (straight) guy friend who I text all the time, complete with smiley faces, exclamation points, and multiple-sentence messages.
Then, there's my ex, who actually refused to talk to me over IM in favor of calling me. His reason was that "people are less genuine through text". (His major is writing. Take that as you will.)
Then, there's all my other guy friends, who behave more or less like you describe. I guess these things really depend on the guy, but there are always anomalies..
Oh you are so right! I wonder that too when I text with my boyfriend I say something like "So what are doing next weekend babe? I'm going shopping do you want to come along?" and he will just put "Idk" God its so frusting! Makes me want to choke him lol just kidding
Guys are dull-witted, visual creatures, though we've come a long way from the days when we would just grunt and point. At least most of us have.
Yah I only use the smileys and stuf if I really like them and have the time to do it...

Its just a guy thing- generally we use as few words as possible... don't take t personally.
I hate texting. My voicemail actually tells people not to text me, because it's gay.
All I know is I hate texting and girls can get pretty annoying when they start texting all the time.
