We have all been in that dreaded zone males and females. You know by the way the person is treating you as a person. If they are not expressing romantic interest in you or not flirting then you are in that zone. There is comfort in being near that friend you are crushing on for two reasons. One of the reasons is that you get to know the person better. Sometimes when we are interested in someone it is mainly do to physical attributes but when we get to know them we see them for who they are. Also being friends with them keeps s near them without there being any awkwardness. Not everyone is mature enough to behave properly after revealing a crush to someone.
