If a guy trusts you enough to tell you his troubles, it means that he trusts you with everything he has; his reputation.
Most guys will go to their "man cave" or just push issues aside to deal with them by rationalizing it or thinking it through to the point where the thing doesn't bother you anymore.
If some girl dumps me and humiliates me, I don't talk to people about it, I just take some time to think about it and once I come to the conclusion that her interest in humiliating me can only stem from her own inferiority complex, I start to not really care about her actions, but if a guy actually tells you his issues, it's first off because he genuinely trusts you, but second off because he wants you to help him.
Girls typically talk about their issues to get it out of their system, to help themselves connect the dots in their brains and get relief that way, guys don't talk about their issues, they just ignore them and then they'll eventually stop being issues. So that's why you see these girls saying to guys "talk about it", because to her, that's the solution to her issues, and likewise the guys will say to the girls "just stop thinking about it" because that's their solution, and that's how many guys and girls come to misunderstand one another. They want to help one another, so they offer their finest solution, but they forget that their solution only works on themselves.
If a girl asks you to talk to her about her issues, she wants you to just listen (generally), just shut the fuck up and listen.
If a guy talks to you about his issues, he wants you to help him, because to us, there's no reason to tell you about a problem, if not to solve it.
There's a 2H marriage seminar by Mark Gungor, very helpful on this topic, I recommend watching the whole thing (he's very entertaining, so the hours will fly by), but if you don't have the time, just watch the 13½ minute long video "A Tale Of Two Brains".
