'Let's grab a drink or something' is it a date?

If a guy you've been talking to online for a few days asks to grab a drink next week - is it a first date? Or more of a pre-date and see if it's worth a first date? What do guys think about when grabbing a drink with someone?

What does it matter? A date is just a label, it doesn't mean anything. I ask a girl out to get to know her, simple as that, if she wants to call that a date, cool.. But it doesn't change anything for me.

Yes I would assume it's a date but don't get all worked up about it (stressed). He wants to keep it light and casual.
