Why do men back their cars/trucks into parking spots?

I can never understand why my husband and other male friends choose to back their vehicles into a parking spot rather than pulling straight in.

Because it's nice to just get in, drive straight out, and not have to crane your head to see if someone's going to hit you or not when you put it in reverse. Honestly, I'm lazy, so I just pull straight in to most parking spots-- it's too annoying to back in perfectly every time.

We do it all the time in our truck. It's an old saying from the bikers, it's the fastest way out of there if there's trouble to back your bike in and get out fast in case of trouble

Why do men? hummmm didn't realize...
I do often, easier to pay attention to my car with two cars that are in place, easier to judge backing into that space space.

backing out, however, harder to see upcoming traffics, cats, kids...

b/c these are idiots that waste time - even of others
on the poor judgement that they can see better when leaving, those race cars that threaten them backing out "blind"
or
this puts them in peel out position as if the get-away heist car
or
(rarely) needs the practice for hooking up trailers, etc.

Certainly if you are going to be loading the bed with shopping, this makes no sense

This process has been timed and always the back-ins LOSE this "race" in time savings

so you save yourself the time and risk when its time to peel out of there.
I back into mine all the time because im a last minute-er... i don't have those extra 20 seconds it takes to back up, i just peel out.
its called planning ahead.

Because studies have proven your 70% less likely to be in a accident if you back into a spot verses drive In that why at most work sites it mandatory secondly backing up with a cold automatic transmission is harder on it then driving forward as the oil ports used to reverse are much smaller then the ones you use for forward gears and lastly in event of emergency you can speed of much faster

And also if you back into a spot and your battery goes dead well you are in there it's much easier to boost

You have a greater field of view when leaving a spot you previously backed into. It makes it safer, less chance of accidents, and some spots are easier to get into when you reverse into them.

It makes pulling out easier and safer because you're not having to look backwards. I'd rather back into a known, controlled area than back out into an unknown, changing, uncontrolled one.

exactly. When you back into a parking spot, you KNOW it's empty. If you leave and have to back out of it, you do NOT know as well what's coming in your path.

No issue. I just find it funny. My husband says he doesn't know why he does it, he just does. I personally dont have the time to do it because Im always busy and its one more thing for me to do. I actually assumed it was an "ego" thing. My husband is very sure of himself, he's a mans-man, and he is particular about his stuff/toys. I always just assumed it was him being anal.

No one is busier than I am and I don't see why you think it takes any longer. You'll have to back up sometime, whether it be when you park or when you leave, so it makes no difference in time. Ego? How so? I don't understand what you mean.
