I've done stuff like the GIF above, so backing into a parking space is nothing. In fact, I have always backed into my own driveway/garage, and I've managed to get my large vehicles (full size no-window Ford van, or long-bed Double-Cab Toyota Tundra pickup) into some very small spaces. I also had a trailer for my DJ gear for a long time - older generations of gear that was much bulkier - and I sometimes had to drive with the trailer and park in San Francisco - one of the most difficult places to drive on the planet - and that often included backing up into underground parking garages and backing up to hotel loading docks.
So, yeah, I have decades of practice, and it's not a big challenge or anything.
I have to do this several times a day since I drive in Long Island New York, looks like one of my coworkers on the video 😊
@Likes2drive My aunt owned a small trucking company for 42 years, and I worked for her for a while, so, yeah, I understand!
Eh. I pretty much suck but can do it if I have to.
My wife could back a semi with 53" trailer into a new york city parking place with one hand while drinking coffee if she had to. I might be inside the lines with no cars in the parking lot, back up cameras, and three wing walkers and a director like at an airport.
53 inches? I could do that too!
LOL! Okay. That's IMPRESSIVE!
God, it’s such a shame that Guardian-45 blocks me? And it really bothers me. I do wonder why he felt it necessary to go so far as to block me, I mean anyone who knows me knows you have to be pretty darn rude for me to not be anything but agreeable and polite. Even those who have commented that an answer I gave came across as rude, I always at LEAST apologize and let them know that it will not happen again, and I usually explain why I answered in the way that I did. And usually it’s merely a misunderstanding on my behalf… but sometimes on their behalf. I mean jeez, I WAS a teenager just 41 days ago, I can’t be expected to be 100% right & polite 100% of the time. But that’s why apologies were invented. I just wish I could know what I did that was so reprehensible to offend him SO much he blocked me?
Well, I’m certainly not as good as the driver in the GIF you posted, but I'm great at backing-up, and I can even do a pretty good J-turn in a powerful enough car w/ a low center of gravity. However, I am getting overly reliant on my back-up camera, and I fear that my ability to almost perfectly reverse into a parking space will diminish w/o continued practice.
I suck. Only because I often drive someone else's car so I get scared about the possibility of damaging their car. However. When I had my own car, I reversed the car into the space first go.

Being good at it needs to have 3 prerequisites:
You park fairly accurately equidistant between the two lines.
You are perfectly aligned with the lines on both sides (provided they are parallel).
You do not take 3, 5, 10 takes do it.
Some might claim that they just do it in one go. That is indeed a skill. But often in real times you have to do it when you have very little time with 10 cars waiting behind you. You first just try to get in let them pass and then you adjust.
It's true. I spent months practicing how to back into a spot in an empty parking lot near my parents house, shortly after I started learning to drive. I practiced in a sedan, in a minivan, and in a pickup truck. I have also practiced with trailers, more specifically boat trailers - as we used to sail quite a bit as a family and would launch boats in the marina every season. You have to do that backwards of course, and all while avoiding backing into the water. It takes a lot of finessing and use of big tow mirrors, as well as a spotter depending on marina rules.
Took me awhile before I felt comfortable enough to start reversing into spots in a busy mall parking lot.
Ehhh... I can do it, but... I basically just think it's easier to drive in forwards, and easier to back out of the space. So I always try to do it that way.
I'm actually a good driver everything else aside. I get loads of compliments on my driving.. just prefer to take the easier approach to parking.
That is something you learned in order to get you driver's license.
Now I have no clue.
Plus, the fact that I drove semis and other trucks and heavy equipment, backing up was just part of the job.
Half my day in a dump truck it seemed like you were backing up somewhere and to either a paver or chip spreader for sealcoating.
I’m not professional but I can if I don’t have a choice.
I’m more the type to pull into a two spot parking lot and pull out without having to -beep beep- my way.
I can back my vehicle up in a single stall garage. Even though it’s really tight and there is hardly any room to move around due to the parking garages being sooooo close.
I’m pretty good, I guess. I can do it in one turn without having to readjust my position. I always back into parking spaces and my driveway.
Well according to my husband I'm pretty damn good for a woman in reversing into parking spaces... So who am I to argue with that! lol
Pretty good. Was more fun way back before relaying on backup cameras.
now I call it cheating.
I've been driving well over 3 decades (almost 4, actually) now.
I should be ashamed of myself if I can't backward park like a pro.
I backed into a parallel parking space at the outdoor mall today, easy. I don't have a backup cam but don't need one when you know your car well.
my driving instructor's car was a small one so i was a pro at parking but my parents' car is a massive 7 seater so i've still got to figure it out
Look I believe that's only possible with a professional person as well as a 4WD (Four Wheel Drive) type of car/automobile/vehicle.
I'm really good at it actually.😅 I like reverse parking because it's quick and easy.
practice makes progress. Overall I’m not too bad
I haven't used a car in ~4 years and only got my license about 3-4 years before that. It's going to be a fun time getting back behind the wheel 😅 I can safely say I'll suck at it.
Pro homey. Well not so much anymore as I've become complacent. Guaranteed I could still back in a U-Haul or box truck. Not sure about a yard dog with a full length trailer though.
Just no I can't even park normally
Ill park you later ;) lol
You don't need to AoME!
@Apple1996 it's the Odyssey too, right? Or are you and your brigade in something else these days?
Lol. Even with the lines there? 😛. Granted I've been on the road since 17.
@TenderFantasy lines don't make a difference for me lol my car is big and hard to park. Smaller cars I can park more easily
No. I suck. I've had to pay for scrapping and denting a very expensive muscle car as well as my own car one time. Husband was pissed.
I used to drive a tow truck and I can park a vehicle I'm towing into a parking spot with even space on each side.
Very good, slow and careful mind, but always a great result,,,
