He broke up with me, and called me the next day and the day after, what does he want? Should I answer?

My boyfriend broke up with me on Sunday - but we’ve had a lot of issues and arguments the past month and I wanted to break up with him twice last month, but was too soft and thought things would work out. Honestly I’m done with it because I don’t need to have this drama in my life, so I took his words that he’s walking away and moving on.

He deleted me off everything, even my number on Sunday. But then the next day Monday, he adds my number back in and then I received a FaceTime call around midnight - I missed it and had no intention on returning the call. He probably thought I would call back or at least say something in the morning, but I didn’t.

Then he calls me today at noon during his lunch break, I didn’t pick up - he thought I would because I work from home, so I can afford to take calls during work. Then 5 mins later, he texts me with ‘please don’t ignore me. I just want to talk’

Does he regret breaking up with me? Why end it with someone and then call twice? What does it want? Should I even call him back or answer his next call? I’m not heartless to just delete his contact details like he did, but I don’t exactly want to get back together.
