Do you agree that the rule of "Half your age, plus 7" makes things socially acceptable?

You want what you want. Making a rule sup a about it doesn’t change that. Honestly I don’t see why anyone cares about the relationships other people’s whom they don’t even know.
It breaks down in the upper bounds as well.
It’s obviously some junk rule to externalize validation of people’s feelings, get over it, let people live their lives.
So it's okay for me to date a girl who is 38 years old?
Borderline but 38 is well into their mature phase of their life and women generally seek older. I have a friend my age that dated a guy 11 years older than her. I would think it's okay personally. I know you're probably asking rhetorically with a hint of "no... that's wrong" lol.
If I was available and not committed, I would be willing to date a 38 year old lady if we had common interests. However, when a girl that young is interested in a man my age, it is usually the material things that have her attention. And I would expect to encounter some societal disapproval if I was dating a 38 year old lady.
As for the upper limit, half again plus seven? Jack, ain't no way I'm dating a 100 year old woman!!! I still have a healthy libido! The idea of receiving oral sex from a woman with no teeth really is NOT that appealing! :) :) :)
I dated guys that like more then jus friends. My current boyfriend is 16 years old. I am 19 and I don’t care about the rules of double age. I prefer short guys.
You definitely have some unique taste. I would assume you like being the dominant one in the relationship?
Since I lerning disabilities . I can't really go on tinder or other dating apps. I have. to do in my college. I am from UK. Age of consent is UK is 16 . My current boyfriend more funny and can dance. I like when guys can dance. We take turn to who want to be controlled of serious relationship.
hmm, possibly. It would mean I could date between 22-16. I'd personally lower the range to 20-17.
The rule just dictates absolute minimums and maximums that are socially acceptable. It has nothing to do with your preference which is completely fine to not want as big an age gap.

Never heard of this before. I basically think 5 years difference is the max you should go.
So if you're 50 you can only date a 45 minimum and 55 maximum? The rule would say a 50 year old can date a 32 year old which sounds borderline, but still okay to me. The older you get, the less age matters. For example if you're 20 years old the rule dictates you can only date a 17 year old or older. That sounds about right to me.
I'd find 50 and 32 wrong personally. Guess I'm abit weirded out by a huge age gap.
I honestly don't give a shit.
I figure while I'm in my 20s, if she's 18 or over she's old enough.
If you're 28 you think 18 is okay?
She's an adult - if she's fine with it I would be too.
Some other people might say it's weird, but I don't see why I would care what they think.
Man she'd be barely out of high school. That's like saying "I'll do anything as long as I don't get caught by the system."
I really am not seeing what you think is so morally terrible about this scenario - she is an adult. She can make her own decisions since she's a big girl, and if she is fine with that age difference than I could deal with it too.
Ah well... we'll agree to disagree. No hard feelings 😂
Nope. I just go by birth years. 1990-1998 for me.
It's basically 7 years below your age
Incorrect entirely. If you're 20, your minimum would be 17, which is only a 3 year gap. If you're 50, your minimum would be 32 which is an 18 year gap. The older you get the less age matters which is why I think this rule is a good standard to live by.
19? Your nearly 24 got you must be shit in bed
