I have been with my boyfriend for over a year and a half now. Things started well, as they usually do, but we've encountered some issues... well I have the issues more say.
Firstly, I'm a Christian, and he's not, and more recently I've been finding it tough because he doesn't understand my faith and he has very little interest in learning about my beliefs. Secondly, his parents are pretty cold towards me and we really are polar opposites - the thought of having his parents around my family really stresses me out. Thirdly, I do care about him, but I just feel like he barely listens to me at times and that we are just not on the same wavelength.
And I guess that's where this guy I see everyday on my train journeys filters in. I travel everyday to university with my friend, and without fail, he used to get off the train as I got on at my stop. I didn't make eye contact for a long time with him and didn't acknowledge is presence (because I already am in a relationship as aforementioned).
However, I looked up at him one day and now am welcomed everyday by a warm smile and sparkling eyes that glint as he smiles. I couldn't help but smile back, and now I see this guy (who I think is very shy) glancing now and then and almost looking out for me at my train stop every morning.
Life's just not been great recently, lost my gran and had a few other things happening as well as the strain of feeling like my relationship has become baggage. And then I noticed this young man, seemingly pleasant and kind. And it's got to the point now that his smile in the morning brightens my day. He hasn't been on the train for 2 weeks and it's added to all of the sadness I've been feeling, along with guilt. It felt almost like something was there.
I almost wondered if maybe he was a Christian too, I just get a weird vibe off of him.
Would you smile at a regular stranger you see everyday? What does it mean?
