Girl Doesn't Say Thank You After a Date?

I took a girl out on a date. I bought her coffee (not too big of a deal), but at the end of the date, she didn't even say thank you for it (or while I paid for it). She did give me a nice hug when we left and was sweet to during the date.

Should that be a deal breaker that she didn't say "thank you"? I don't want to sweat over that, but... It just seems like you should say it...

I think it should have certainly been said. It's only polite to thank you for the coffee, and for spending time with her.

Perhaps her nerves got the better of her, and her mind wasn't thnking right. It happens, we are only human! Sometimes things slip our mind, and sometimes we're focused on other things that we forget those little important statements.

I don't believe it should be a deal breaker right now, but it's entirely up to you. You seem a bit dissatisfied with it, otherwise you wouldn't be asking the question. I would say, maybe ask her out again and see how that date goes. Hopefully she will say thank you at least, if you give her another opportunity she may be more appreciative towards those little things.

It didn't necessarily bother me. I just always am sure to say thank you to people for something. I just didn't know if I should be holding her up to what I would of done. Everyone reacts different like you said. She was really sweet to me.

If she was sweet, and you both had a nice time together, I think it's worth another chance. Hopefully she wil be less nervous, and will probably be able to remember to say thank you, next time.

Coffee isn't a big deal though. And she may be unhappy with the date. Or too shy to talk with you. Many reasons may be. Just don't count the $, I spent thousands of them on one-date-girls. The good pick requires some investment, you know... And 9 of 10 startups fail, so don't bother, just date another one.

TLDR: Thank you's go a long way and is appreciated by men. If you don't get one on a second date either, you might want to ask yourself if a third date is a good idea. No man (or reasonable person) wants to feel like they are being taken advantage of. Don't overreact if you are a man. Respecting each other's time and showing appreciation is a green flag for future dates/courtship.

Maybe I help put this question to bed. I strongly believe a "Thank you" or "I appreciate...(gesture/drinks/dinner)" goes a long way. Moreover, I feel that no man (or person for that matter) wants to feel like they are being taken advantage of. For your first date SoundOfRain, it doesn't seem too bad considering it only involved coffee. It sounds like she is a kind person, so I think giving her the benefit of the doubt was the right move. Have you gone out on a second date, and if you paid did she say thank you then?

I just had a second date this weekend with someone I met through Bumble, and I came away from it with a similar question/concern. On the first date, we grabbed drinks at a nearby bar, and I paid. We had a great time, and I proposed that we meet up for a second date which involved brunch. I noticed that she did not say thank you, but I gave her the benefit of the doubt, even though its a slight a red flag for me.

On the second date, we had brunch and the bill came out to be twice the amount of the first date. I didn't mind paying. However, my date neither extended a gesture nor did she say thank you at the end. What do I mean by gesture? I mean when a girl politely offers to split the bill, after which I would politely decline and pay. That didn't happen, so I just paid without a thank you. To add to that we grabbed a coffee after brunch, for which I paid again, and still no thank you to follow. She mentioned making noodles/dinner at either her place or mine for the next date, so I'm confident this date went well. Similar to you SoundOfRain, my date seems like a good person, and perhaps an upstanding person. But the lack of gesture/gratitude for me, especially after the second date, was bit of a turn off.

My final thought: If this is the most polite someone I don't know is going to be with me, what does that say about them when no one is looking? I don't want to feel like I'm being taken advantage of while dating. I appreciate manners. However, I would not advise on reacting or overreacting when you don't hear a Thank You. Just acknowledge it and ask yourself if another date with this person is a good idea.
