How to get a guy who ghosted to message you?

Okay this may not be a good idea, i understand. But if I was too. I had been talking to this guy for 3 months, it was online, but he visits my city once a month to visit his family (used to live here) and soon I am going to university in his city. He has been the most complementary, and nicest guy I've ever talked to, however 1 and a half months ago, he began to stop messaging me and didn't open my snaps. So I sent him a paragraph along the lines of "if you don't wanna talk anymore its cool, but i just wanna know what i did wrong... etc etc. And when he didn't open it after being active online for 3 hours i sent him a message saying "bye, it was nice talking to you" and tbh i regret sending the second message. And as i was about to delete that message he had already viewed it and left it on read. But just yesterday he liked my instagram post, something he hasn't done in so long. And an hour later he also voted on my poll on my Instagram story, something he also hasn't done since. I know this isn't a definite sign of him wanting to come back, but lets just assume it is. Me I'm not messaging him, i want him to message me, but my friend suggested i should refollow him first, to indicate i show interest, but trouble is I've stalked his profile always viewing his Instagram stories and I assume he hasn't noticed I've unfollowed. So she suggests I don't view his stories or like his posts, than re follow in a week or so. Would this be a wise idea? or any better suggestions?
