Uh if it's a chemical reaction then it's real.
Everything is a chemical reaction in your brain, your brain controls your body therefore everything is a chemical reaction including love/emotions.
Love is what you choose it to be, a game, a exuse, a reason for living.
Love is a option.
It is real BECAUSE it is a chemical reaction in the brain. :)
Everything is a chemical reaction... you have some random chemical reaction for someone without even knowing who they are doesn't mean that is LOVE... it's more of a super attraction reaction going on... whoever said it's love I think is crackers!
Okay I’ll explain myself further. What you feel as love are multiple chemical reactions occurring in your brain and body (brain, heart, nervous system, genitals etc.). This concoction, applied to the stimulus (the person we love) is what we call love.
Love isn’t a soul mate attraction. It isn’t a transcendent spiritual aspect of humanity. It’s a chemical reaction, but that makes love a real thing because of it. If it weren’t for the reactions going on then we wouldn’t feel all those things.
The stimulus is always random. We don't find out until later that they are the person for us or not for us until we investigate their values, standards, common interests etc. So the concoction applied to the stimulus is just that..."Overly stimulated attraction". You don't love someone until you know their true character and many times that random selection is not the person for you.
You are able to love your idea of them. It’s still something you love. It doesn’t make sense to say that love is EITHER a chemical reaction OR a real factor of human nature. It makes zero sense, sorry.
everything is chemicals and science. we are animals after all.
The chemical reaction is lust. Love is truly how you feel about someone.
Love is the gift given to us from god, it's like the fuel of life 🙂
how is "it's real" and "chemical reaction" a different option? xD chemical reactions are real.
You don't have a chemical reaction for everyone on the planet so why certain people? Where does LOVE actually come into play? If the chemical reaction is just for attraction then it's not love is it?
because your body has systems in place that partly consciously and partly subconsciously make you choose a partner that will be suitable and fit for procreation and be genetically a good match to facilitate the diversification of the gene-pool. you could call it "natural selection".
the conscious ones are looks and emotional bonding. the subconscious ones are mostly smell and taste based but also some of them are looks bases, cause for some of your preferences you don't really have a good conscious explanation.
once a person meets those criteria, your brain releases those certain chemicals to make you feel "love" and make you wanna bond and procreate with a person.
it's like the feeling of joy or sadness. those are all chemicals like serotonine, dopamine and so on that your brain releases once certain criteria are met. how exactly the chemical coctail is mixed is instructed by your genes and certain mixtures make certain feelings. that's how the brain works.
Chemical reactions of attraction are not the same as falling in love with someone.. someone's standards, outlook on the world, their values. That chemical reaction can happen with anybody at anytime doesn't mean it's you falling in love... it's mother nature pushing buttons so that new humans can be made.
well that's somewhat paraphrasing what i just said. mother nature pushing it's buttons are those complex chemical reactions.
obviously there's not "one" chemical reaction happening. it's a complex metablic system that works with different concentrations of different chemicals in different locations of the brain to create those feelings.
thinking of "one chemical reaction" is too simplistic.
*metabolic
It's just two. The release of phenylethylamine acts as a releasing agent for norepinephrine and dopamine. Drinking alcohol and using cocaine will give you the same effects. I think people should be very weary of these chemical reactions being touted for LOVE. But hey... thanks for the comments! It's a complex issue for sure.
it's not just those 3. it's many more and slight variation in each concentration makes a huge difference. yeah it's complex but that's not a reason to assume that there's something "more" to it. yeah we probably don't understand it entirely.
i understand that people love shit that makes them all warm and fuzzy inside xD that's actually "serotonine masturbation" so to speak :D that's why people like it. we are abusing our brains reward system to make us feel better ^^ we don't understand how and why our brain works but we're really good at using and missusing it ^^
It's a chemical reaction. All of our feelings come from the brain, not from the heart. The purpose of the heart is to pump blood while the brain controls everything which also includes managing our hormones.
The brain isn't smart enough to pick the right person for us through this chemical reaction. The chemical reaction is random and somewhat biological to the point of just wanting to put two people together to create more humans. So I don't believe that chemical reaction has anything to do with LOVE and more to do with Attraction to another.
Sure ur brain is smarter than you realize because when all thous chemical reactions are going on it's triggered buy a deep down phycologist response that drive all of use to find the tallest, strongest, smartest person possible to mate with. And that's why women love guys like Brad Pitt and guys pretty much hump the air anytime a remotely Attractive women walks bye
Someone beat you to it! Lol

Ha Ha Ha
It's a chemical reaction (the release of certain neurotransmitters), therefore it's real.
Chemical reaction. It's literally all science and chemistry when you break it down.
Both Can be true because even if it was a chemical reaction you aren’t still experiencing it as love
It's both, you have multiple chemical reactions with people when you're interested in them but when you spend a long time with them in love, whether that's for a year or a lifetime, that's when it becomes real, when the butterflies stop but you still love them x
I'm training to be a relationship therapist so if any of this helped please let me know xxx
Both. All our experiences rely on reactions taking place in our brains. I'm reminded of a certain Dumbledore quote 'Of course it's happening inside your head. Why should that mean it's any less real?'
passion is chemical. love is more structural in the brain
Why exactly shouldn't it be "real", if it's a chemical reaction in the brain?
I strongly feel that yoy have to simplify love what matters is that instant attraction first but that BOTH have it
It's a chemical reaction. Plain and simple. And that is real.
It is always interesting to see how atheists answer this.
Hey @jacquesvol!
Meeting the person with who you can live in perfct understanding
Or just hormones...
@jacquesvol hmmmm. Ok. Hmmm. . . imteresting. Thank you sir. I was rather curious.
Is pain real, or simply a chemical reaction in the brain?
Pain is real and universal.
And also a chemical reaction in the brain.
Yes it is.
It's something real. Parental love, love for your child, anything at all.
As far as I know it’s a chemical reaction that affects every part of your being
Your heartbeat is controlled by a chemical reaction in your brain and you should really thank it for being real.
I don't know coach!! put me in the game if you want to win
LOL :+}
It's real. It starts out as something chemical, but keeping it alive takes decisions and work.
Its just a chemical reaction but chemical reactions are real so the question doesn’t make sense lmao
see update
Love is real it’s one of the things that makes life worth living but yes it’s formed by chemicals in your brain
It's both... It's not random or magic, of course there has to be something behind it
Well, falling in love is an idea that we created based off of the chemical reaction. If it wears off, there is no attraction and divorce is probably the best decision
What's the difference between being real and a chemical reaction? If your brain believes you love them then it's real, your options kind of collapsed on themselves but yes I think love is real
If by real you mean forever, it's real if it's a choice.
But if it's just chemicals, you'll most likely "fall out of love". But sometimes, rarely, you never lose it too significantly.
I believe that it's a chemical reaction in the brain just like everything else we experience and we labeled this one Love, so Love is real lol
LOL exactly... problem is we don't know who WE is... ha
Yeah I'm going to settle with this. To me it's not different than our brain telling us that we're hungry and need nutrition
LOL gotcha!
I know that it's a chemical reaction but that's a very cynical way of viewing life. And also intelectually lazy. You can't explain everything with just ONE argument.
it's more about the way they get along with you it's a closeness more than a great friendship it's part friend part loved part admiration to how well you get along
It's a chemical reaction. But why does that mean it isn't real. Are you implying that a chemical reaction isn't real?
No I am implying on calling the chemical reaction that occurs "falling in love" . You get a chemical reaction when you take heroine... we don't call that falling in love with heroine.. we call that an addiction.
I'd say chemical reaction due to the fact that hormones are released when together.
its real but its caused by a chemical in your brain (dopamine)
According to the Bible, romantic love was created by God. Check out the second chapter of Genesis! 👍
I believe it’s a habit of some sort. You like somebody then you make a habit of looking at them, etc.
I think it's very real. Nothing, and I truly mean nothing (except love), could justify the decisions people make for their loved ones.
Chemical reaction when you look at the sex part first and not the feeling of your own awareness how the sex made you feel at the time in that moment.
Every "real" thing that happens to us is a result of chemical reactions in the brain, soooo, yeah, applies to this too.
I think it’s just as real as being terrified beyond the capacity for rational thought - which is also a chemical reaction in the brain.
Falling in love is a feeling, and all feelings are just chemical reactions in the brain. That doesn't make it any less though so is happiness but its still important.
You are acting like the two are mutually exclusive. It's a real chemical reaction. If you meant "Is love this magical divine gift or just a chemical reaction" then it's a chemical reaction. But it's a very real reaction. Magic doesn't exist.
You can have a similar chemical reaction to cocaine and alcohol but people call that an addiction. Aren't they both just an addiction? Love is more then chemicals in the end.
Well yes, they can be both considered types of addiction. And I mean, if you look at suicide statistics, you will find that love and love related issues are the number 1 cause of suicide, so not only is it an addiction, but can be an extremely dangerous one. Not saying people should avoid it, but I think that it is healthy to realize that it is just a chemical that fucks with your mind and your perception of the world, and to keep yourself in check.
Well if you run out of cocaine you get depressed... I would assume the same with "love" ... it's the same chemicals that are making us feel good and not so good! So yeah!
On an unrelated subject, are you a dating coach or something like that? I saw you here earlier, and you seem to be focusing on the topic of dating and relationships, plus you have "coach" in your username.
online dating coach! Yes.
there is a friend of mine who uses this profile as well (a few of us use one same profile, which is also the reason why I am anonymous here) that is struggling with his dating life, so I am wondering is there a chance he could have a quick conversation with you somewhere in the future? he tried asking questions here in the past, but never got useful advice from people
Can he DM me on GAG? If so sure NP.
yeah he can. ok, I will let him know, thanks in advance!
It may be known as a chemical reaction. That doesn't make it any less real.
Sounds like somebody’s been watching Rick and Morty😂
I said C because of course there's a chemical reaction but there's something that you just feel that isn't a chemical reaction.
For example, you have always that person on your mind, how is a chemical reaction going to cause that?
In my opinion technically it is a reaction of hormones and enzymes. Do to natural attraction to the opposite so upon contact with the person you think is right this reaction is triggered creating the euphoric fealing we cal love
It is definetely real if it wasn't then there wouldn't be so much pain in this world when you could no longer be with the one you love.
Love is something we created. We love the idea of love but it’s nothing more than what we feel and how our mind reacts to that person
If you're going to make the distinction between "real" and "just chemical reactions", its essential to define what love is.
So what is "love" in its "real" form?
It's a disease of the mind
Yikes!
Love should be eradicated from the world
How would you go about doing that exactly?
Torture would definitely help
It's real, cause they already have a name for just "a chemical"- whatever it's called lust. Love is different
This is a semantics issue, what is it you hope to learn, exactly?
You have posted a question and made no argument.
It’s a chemical reaction but all your thoughts are also a chemical reaction and that doesn’t make them any less real
Technically everything is just a chemical reaction in the brain, even the colors we see.
So, I guess it's as real as anything else.
It’s very real.
It’s work but not fake
Oh I understand now.
Compatibility rarely “wears off” but often people get married based off of superficial things. They don’t have the hundreds of necessary important conversations couples should have concerning upcoming situations in life. You have to be able to work together through really difficult things not just like how they look & both enjoy comedies
Its both. Though it seems necessary for us biologically and psychologically.
It's a desire and need for another person that's overwhelming. The feeling is very real.
Obviously not... many brainless people fall in love everyday. A lot of them seem to have kids too.
