There is a lot of emphasis on the feeling of falling in love. But love is not a feeling. Love has feelings, but is deeper than feelings, and more substantial than feelings. If love were a feeling, every time you got real angry with the one you love, you would stop loving them. Feelings ebb and flow, love does not. Love is the understanding and desire to do what is best for the person you love, and to put them first, before yourself, when needed, or even commonly.
Well our bodies and all the chemicles in it are made of molecules that exist in the real world so yes its real. There us a genuine trajectory and mechanics to how things function.
The chemical reaction is not random and arbitrary, but in keeping with the cosmos and an evolutionary imperative.
Falling in love is like taking oxy's for a temporary amount of time. Then the supplier cuts you off, entirely. Now you either go into relapse unless you find oxy's (love) somewhere else. 😏 The brain release this drug in the brain while "in love". Drugs are no good, just like love. Lol
What do you mean by "real"? Human beings ultimately are ruled by the mechanics of our biology. If the chemical reaction happens, that's how we perceive love.
Do you mean in the sense of the "soul" feeling it? That's up to interpretation.
If the chemical reaction happens with a serial killer should we not question that perception? It's not binary. The chemical reaction is just natures way of pushing us into someone else to procreate... doesn't mean it's LOVE.
Real love I believe is a willingness to prioritize another’s well-being or happiness above your own. A choice to commit to helping, respecting, and caring for another, such as in marriage or when having a child. When you feel these things you are in love. I don't think the fleeting " chemical reaction" in the brain has anything to do with that since it's random. So as I said, when the chemical reaction happens that's simply attraction.. not until you have felt what I have said above is it real love. Everyone has their own opinion.. this is mine you have yours and i respect it!
I don't think it is specifically either, I think "love" is something to wide spread to pinpoint exactly as to what causes it. It has been. Proven that when you have feelings for someone you body and mind have a specific reaction to that person but there is also the chance that you can force yourself to have feelings for said person. It's a complicated answer but that's what I think.
It's real, but we often forget that there are many different types of love. And most of them grow over time. Some are strong, some are fragile. The lust type is the most fragile and the most likely to just be chemistry, and too many people focus too much on lust. Deeper forms of love will make your whole life better, lust just makes one night better. It is junk food love.
And some other times, it can be either one because for instance, it can be real, no problem but come to think of the chemical reactions, Yes ! There re some fantastic elements that can make the chemicals in your brain to misbehave like serious cash at hand and other valuable commodities. Shit happens once in a while anyway.
Harsh. I wanna say a chemical reaction that is released in the brain for the reason of reproduction and the psychological aspect of touch. Its something the human body strives for. You know an untouched child goes insane or can die? Its sad. Although the feeling can be very real. I would say its a mix.
It's a little bit of both. The chemical reaction does affect your brain and certain things are blocked out that you don't notice and could be things you don't like. (Which I've noticed from sex specifically (I do have a story)) You can also easily love someone for who they are. It's like a part of who you are, and it just feels right. Something you can't explain. It's like being home.
Every since we were infants in the womb we were programed inside our brain for the need of attachment. So in real life it isn't any different, we tend to lean toward some type of bond with others. But that being said there is such a thing as a heavier bond that we have labeled as Love. It is a more robust feeling and is persuaded by an attraction that tugs on the heart strings. Instead of an acquaintance the feeling gets stronger and stronger. This is Love.
This is an existential question. If we're going down that path, is happiness real, or simply the consequence of dopamine? Is pain real, or only in the mind? Are colours real, or simply the way the brain uniquely interprets wavelengths of photons hitting light sensitive proteins in the retina? Are you real, or simply an always changing blob of atoms that thinks it can think?
Is physiological and mental, the result of a perfect storm. Without any one of those components, it wouldn't be what we know it as.
For me love is trusting, having faith, and hope in others, is to consider yourself and at the same be conscious that everyone needs to be acknowledged for who they are and what they can do, is to act on it and be capable of not only giving that positive vibe but to receive it and create a feedback.
Its very hard to say because some people say oh love at 1st sight Argument can be in play, And then others say "O it's a chemical brain feeling." It's just all how you wanna look at it There are a lot of arguments to both sides of whether it's a phone in love at 1st sight or brain chemical.
Well it's a chemical reaction for sure but is that reaction love? Or is it a hyper sensitive over attraction you have for the person? My thing is isn't LOVE more then a simple reaction in the brain?
I believe it is a chemical reaction. If someone lost a memory for head trauma and somehow lost the memory when he fell in love with his s. o, he won't feel the same about her. Like he knows she's familiar and someone who is close to him, care for him but he won't remembering loving her until he remembers when exactly did he fall for her.

Well firstly, a chemical reaction IS real! You can’t separate those two. I think you’re confusing lust with love here. Love that causes those chemicals changes doesn’t just go away. It depends on many other factors. The whole point of being a living sentient being means that we react to the environment around us, if we didn’t we’d be dead. Love is just one part of that in life that seeks to meet our needs and serve a greater purpose.

Some are the real deal of love. No matter how much you actually want to deny this person you can't shake off living without them. Even after a full on year of holding back how I feel, this is the man I'm meant for. Just one day, when we are both ready, I will be able to let him know.
It's a real chemical reaction.. because you can fall in love with almost anyone who you have attraction for... it's not exclusively to "the one!" This is why I never believe in that he's the one, and all this "soulmate" crap! Because anyone that you have an attraction for and really get to know.. if you have the same interests, you can "fall in love!"
When people don't understand things, their reaction may try to simplify things for themselves by thinking that there is a deeper meaning that no one can really understand; it's no different to how people used to (and still) think that anything they do not understand has something to do with gods or demons. When you point out the facts to them, they may act indignant and say that you shouldn't act like you know everything but deep inside, a part of them believes the facts and they are afraid of having their beautiful illusions broken. Others may simply like the idea of things being shrouded in mystery.

You lost me at Cosmos LOL.
I mean... The laws within the universe apply to humans. We can not break the laws of physics is all I'm saying.

Who says it's "love?" Maybe it's an addiction to that person like sugar.
This is true. The addiction to the idea of love.

Ok, so then, what IS love?

It can be real and chemical reaction in the same time! What kinda choices are these, and what kinda votes.
Love is an addiction to dopamine combined with desires of passion and sex and connection.
Folks! Science is real! And love is real in the same time. No matter what spiritual meanings it has. Its physical explanation is true.

It's both. You can refer back to MyTake on brain chemistry and its relation as to how we feel.

You don't get neuroscience. What ELSE would falling in love be? ALL emotions are neurochemistry, NO EXCEPTIONS AT ALL!
How is that hard to understand?
So what if they are? After all, you're not some superstitious little primitive who can't handle a little truth, right?

@Aki6000, well, everything women do DOES have something to do with demons, but hawt, SEXXXXXXXY demons!
