If they know how to use and store them correctly and the firearm is legally owned why not? Any firearm by themselves are just finely engineered, metal wood and plastic, inherently neither good nor bad. At the moment I do not own any firearm, though I have in the past and had to concealed carry on a fair few of the jobs I have done and if I need one in the future I know that I already have the facilities for it and the ammunition,
Don’t think I would ever date anyone who did not own guns, or at least appreciated them. I survived two home invasions, one street assault, and one deployment because of them.
I own a gun, so I would date someone who owns a gun. I am also very much in favor of common sense guns laws, that helps keeps guns from criminals, from the mentally ill, and keeps assault style rifles out of circulation.
How is that common sense? And it scares me that you own a gun and think an assualt rifle is a real thing. Do you mean black guns? Why does the color matter? Do you mean full auto guns? Already illegal. Im not sure wtf you're even talking about.
@bamesjond0069 : First, assault rifles are a real thing. The first real assault rifle was developed by Germany during word war two. It was tagged the Sturmgewehr. There is specific criteria needed for a rifle to be properly called an assault rifle. Second, I did not say 'assault rifle.' I said 'assault style rifle.' There is no easy term in universal use to describe what many people have that is a rapid fir, magazine loaded rifle. And I did not mention any color, so I don't understand why you are asking if a color matters. I am referring to rifles that have large magazines, that are capable of very rapid fire. And often, such guns can be comparatively easily made into automatics. Bottom line. Rifles, and actually guns, that, again, have large magazines and can fire very rapidly, allowing them to kill many people without changing a magazine. I'm sure that gives you a good idea of what I'm talking about. If not, use the same imagination that allows you to think there is no such thing as an assault rifle.
They dont sell "rapid fire" guns in america. They are illegal and have been for a long time now. The next closest would be semi automatic. Which are all just as "rapid fire" as any other semi automatic. Lmao.
@bamesjond0069 : Do you laugh your ass off at the dead in El Paso and Dayton? And we know semi automatics can often be turned into automatics. The issue is not the terminology, but what kills many people in a short period of time. Semi-automatic rifles with large magazines are ideal for killing in large numbers. Even in the military, they often use semi-automatic fire, over automatic fire. And as you well know, a rifle has superior fire power, and can be more effectively aimed at many targets, especially if they are not real close and moving. You can play games all day long, but the bottom line is, people are being mass murdered in America. It's obvious from your comments, that you would rather play semantics, that help save lives. That doesn't make you superior, just the opposite is more like it. It's people, apparently like yourself, who would rather fiddle, while our children and women are being murdered. Fortunately, the majority of Americans want to see our children live, and are willing to have common sense gun laws to help prevent these killings.
I laugh my ass off at you at how dumb you are. Those "assault rifles" functionally aren't any different than your typical semi auto handgun. Do you laugh at the 1000x more people who die every year from hand guns? You obviously don't care about them at all.
@bamesjond0069 : You make a lot of assumptions about others, with very little knowledge. I find that typical of gun nuts. You keep making comments that are foolish, to deflect from the real issue. Though the mechanism of guns is similar, it's still very true, that a rifle with a large magazine, is more effective, will murder more people, that will a hand gun. But you know that. And you seem to care much more about your guns, than about dead people. And yes, I am very aware of the statistics about hand gun deaths. But we are now talking about rifles with large magazines, and how they murder in mass numbers. Apparently, your argument is so weak, that you must keep deflecting away from the facts of mass murders and semi-automatic rifles and large magazines.
I don't see the relevance. Mass numbers in one particular type of crime but overall its one if the least types of gun used in all gun deaths. "Assault rifles" cause about 1% of all gun deaths in the US yet are one of the most popular guns to own. So it seems like it won't help much but will inconvenience a lot.
@bamesjond0069 : I do understand you. Your belief seems to be, keep the guns, too bad if there are mass murders. It's only a dozen or more at a time anyway.
All kinds of guns bother me so I don’t have them and it would be a deal breaker if the person I’m dating had a passion for them. I am not against responsible adults owning guns, but I don’t want a gun-loving person in my life.
@selfdestruction Cause I think its weird to have an obsession with weapons and to keep so many in your house. I understand its a hobby but I just wouldn't be comfortable
Yes, I would prefer it, or I would prefer a girl who is at least comfortable with firearms. I own 8 guns myself, and I have met girls who weren't okay with it.
Of course I would. I own guns. I'd prefer to date someone who owns guns or who is open to the possibility of owning guns. I'd know she can help protect our family when danger comes a knockin'.
@Dashee Who's little Timmy? Some random kid? My guns are either locked up or on my person. And who's gonna stop little Timmy if you're pissing yourself afraid of guns? Because it sure as hell won't be you. Continue corralling kids into kill boxes with no armed security so little Timmy has the easiest, softest target possible to inflict maximum damage with impunity, then be surprised when you get that exact result.
Who knows. It could be your future son lmao. Anyways, I don't really worry about that. I'm European, so my children will be going to school and not a shooting range.
@Dashee It could be YOUR future son. Most mass shooters aren't previous gun owners, because they're too often foiled by gun malfunctions. Even a moderately experienced shooter knows how to identify and clear most malfunctions in a matter of seconds. You can bet my kids will know how to clear any malfunction in record time. You won't be able to blink fast enough.
Where I live, you can't buy guns in stores. Matter of fact, owning guns is illegal and our country doesn't sell any. You'd have to go to the dark web and get one, which is still very tricky. America is just a fucked up country and the people are too ignorant and too filled with pride to even see it. Mass shootings aren't normal. Owning guns isn't normal. Teaching my children to use something that could very easily kill someone isn't normal. Not everyone is mentally stable, and giving them the opportunity to murder isn't normal.
@Dashee Oh please, it's been proven time and time again that banning guns doesn't mean guns disappear. France has extremely strict gun laws too. So much so that not even all police officers are armed. Ask Charlie Hebdo how well that protected him. And teaching your children about reality is being smart. You're reasoning is just insane. Cars could easily kill someone. Cars kill people every day. Are you not going to teach your kids how to drive? Cars are a part of life and so are guns. Everyone should know how to handle a gun. Everyone.
Cars? have? a? purpose? other? than? killing? Cars are used as a form of transportation. Guns are used to kill and hurt living being, albeit animals or humans. It has no useful purpose other than creating damage and destruction. Your reasoning seems to be as off as mine apparently. Aside from that, in Europe we don't have drills at school where we're being told what to do in case a kid's walking around with an AK-47. We don't dread going outside in fear of guns. You're right, just because guns are banned doesn't mean they disappear. But if a normal person can easily obtain a gun, a mentally instable person can, too. Crack and heroin and such are also illegal, which is why it's a lot harder to obtain and a lot harder for people to get addicted to it. If these drugs were to be sold in stores, a lot more people would be hooked on it.
@Dashee Divide the little Timmys by all of the kids and you'll discover some amazing facts. Like how many times more likely you are to die from the flu in a given year than from some random "Little Timmy." The worst year for mass shootings by far was 2017, the year of the Las Vegas Massacre with 117 killed. The LOWEST yearly death toll in the USA from the flu was 3349 way back in 198687 flu. season The worst was 2003-4 with over 48,000 deaths.
@Dashee Guns? Have a purpose? Other than killing? I have two target guns that would make terrible people killers. You'd be more successful smashing the stock over someone's skull than trying to shoot them to death. The problem is, you know nothing about guns so you end up talking out of your ass. That's on you. The fact that you don't know how to handle a gun and know nothing about guns makes you afraid of them. So what? People who can't swim are afraid of water. Doesn't mean water should be banned, and thousands of people who can't swim drown every year.
It depends why. I know someone who works with the police in a firearms department and had one because of his job. He’s never fired it and hopes he never will but has to carry it for his job and his own safety.

Hell yeah, anyone who is mentally healthy but willing to take steps towards proactive self-protection is a sexy adult in my book
Well almost every guy I've dated owns guns. So yes I would.
Don’t think I would ever date anyone who did not own guns, or at least appreciated them. I survived two home invasions, one street assault, and one deployment because of them.
Pffft chances are that we aren't ever going to get along if she is anti-gun anyway.
by the way the shooting technique in that photo leave much to be desired. She needs to straighten her arms out more.

Wow! Really what's so bad about having a gun for protection we live in a crazy world it's always good to be prepared
I own twin Sig Sauer 9mms, that's all the firepower I need for the zombie apocalypse.
All I've got from this thread is education about guns and their uses is greatly influenced by media.
Personally I love guns and compete with them regularly, I've got a trophy and medal shelf in my house to show off all the times I've won competitions.
But hey I must be a psychopath killer because I shoot paper targets and that is the apitamy of evil.
Of course. Having several of my own I would expect him to have some.
Yeah but you have to weed out the nuts. I almost got killed by a nutty woman with tons of guns. She admitted it to me later
Yes, my late Maternal Grand-dad was a former Deputy Sheriff
in his younger years to year 1984 but yes i would live with someone
who owned gun (s).
One or two guns? sure. A whole entire collection filled with them? No.
Why?
@selfdestruction Cause I think its weird to have an obsession with weapons and to keep so many in your house. I understand its a hobby but I just wouldn't be comfortable

Until little Timmy grabs a gun and shoots up the school.

@Dashee Yup, have comfort in knowing that fucked up individuals are gonna use worse methods and just buy illegal firearms.
It depends why. I know someone who works with the police in a firearms department and had one because of his job. He’s never fired it and hopes he never will but has to carry it for his job and his own safety.
My husband owns several & we fire them in the range once in a while.
Hell yes!
I could not date a snivelling cowardly victim mentality liberal who had been programmed to have an irrational fear of firearms.
I would see that as a plus, that she takes her own security and safety seriously. I prefer not to date victims.
No I wouldn't. It has too great of a potential to be used against you like that one guy said in a time of "self defense" and "arguements"!
