Shy girl showed interest, but didn't ask any questions back when I talked to her. Not interested?

There's this shy girl who smiled at me, and who stares at me when I'm not aware about her doing it.

We exchanged eye contact a few times, so I approached her. We said hi, and I asked her name and she told me it.
During our talk, I'd be the one asking questions while she answered them, and she seemed to be attentive. It was kind of hard to keep the conversation going because we both were quiet.

She didn't show any negative body language signs either. We both smiled, faced each other, and made eye contact, she just didn't ask anything back?


We both seem to have no experience in dating because of our non - dating culture.

After our talk, she'll only look at me now when she knows that she can look at me without me realizing it. She sneaks glances from the corner of her eye and the mirror, but doesn't make it obvious that she's looking at me like she did before my approach.

Did she want me to lead the talk, or was she not interested?

The reason I approached her was because she made it very obvious that she was looking at me.

She would let herself "catch" look at me, and when I looked back at her, she'd linger the eye contact for a split second longer than usual before looking down.

I can't ask her out like that, because I live in an arranged marriage type of place. I'll have to talk a lot first.

People usually date first, then get into relationships, it's the opposite here. I know it sounds weird.

How can you tell she's interested?
I'm gonna be honest, I'm not very confident, so I make up excuses as to why she could have been staring or smiling at me.
Like, she could have been smiling because she remembered something funny and happened to look at me them.
Maybe she smiled while talking to her because she was being polite ( but tbh due to the non-dating culture, not many girls are polite towards guys who talk to them).

I've heard that interested girls ask stuff back, but she didn't. I mean I'm shy too, but i asked her questions.

By "not being polite" I meant that she might have not given her name at all if I directly asked it like that.
