Shy girl showing interest but ignoring?

I talk to this girl on Facebook, trying to get to know her more because I genuinely like her. we're both Muslims and I think she's shown signs of interest.

- visited her high school in fall . saw her with a friend and approached her and started talking. she acted super nervous

- visited her high school with some friends. saw her with her Friends. my friend said that when she saw me she got nervous.

- I asked her on chat if we could hangout and she ignored the msg. but later when she got comfortable she suggested we hangout when I'm near her college.

- I asked for her # and she ignored the message but when she got comfortable she voluntarily gave it to me.

- when we hungout she asked me at the end if I'm ever visiting so we could hangout again.

-b4 we graduated I asked if she could sign my yearbook. She didn't put the normal signature and "have a great summer!" She wrote like 1/2 page letter saying good things about me, how I'm nice and hardworking and how as she got to know me she saw that I'm very kind. she's also very very shy.

When I show interest she backs off. After we hungout I texted her saying that she's pretty and said she looked nice when we hung out and she stopped talking to me. She still has me on fb but she ignores my txts/fb msgs. Does it seem like she likes me but is super shy?

I complimented her on her looks before. But I guess the pretty compliment kinda got her since I said it after we hungout

As a shy girl myself, I can tell you why she's giving you mixed signals. Well, there may be a few different reasons. Because she's shown some interest in seeing you, I would say she is just being shy when she doesn't respond. It doesn't mean she doesn't like you or that she meant to ignore you, she just didn't know how to react, and chose to do nothing. It's also possible that she didn't get the message until later, and then thought it was too late to respond.

However, there's always the possibility that she doesn't like you like that, and so when you make a move on her she backs off because she doesn't want to lead you on. Shy girls have a hard time flat-out rejecting guys.

Your last paragraph makes it seem like you put her off by saying she's pretty. I'd be careful not to lay compliments on too thick. Personally, if I feel someone has an agenda when they try to get to know me, I will keep my distance (though she may not be the same way). Don't make her feel like you only want her for her looks or something.

The best way to approach a shy girl is to talk to her often through Facebook Chat or similar, and also see each other in person often. It may take awhile but eventually she will become comfortable with you online and in person and you can ask her out. If she doesn't feel comfortable and is very shy, most likely she will reject your advances until she knows you better.

I see. Great feedback. One thing is, when she ignored my message about her # it was because I asked in a bad way. basically said "let me get your number" instead of politely asking. I later apologized and she give me her iPod txting app # so we could text and later gave her phone # when she got comfortable. And she ignored my message about hanging out because I asked when she still lived with parents. so she said she can't go out with guys bcz of parents. seems like she's just overall, really shy?

Yeah, shy girls will ignore stuff they aren't sure how to say no to (such as exchanging numbers). Be polite and nice and she'll probably respond well. :)

Too add to everyone else's comments. It might be slow in the beginning and difficult, but once you reach a certain comfort level it will be easy and fun. You won't always have to work so hard. Good luck :)

Yes she likes you but she is just shy maybe because of her religion. She might be thinking it's wrong what she's doing.
