Why do so many people say they like travelling on their dating profile?

I don’t mind going on holidays every now and then but if someone lists travelling as one of their top interests on their profile I get the impression that it’s like a lifestyle to them. All that makes me think is they don’t know how to save money cos they blow it all on travelling lol. Do people think this is impressive or something?

Unless your job requires you to travel I don't think people should be listing it as a hobby/interest. Especially when you only do it like maybe once or twice a year.

Traveling more than that in a single year and I will assume you're just throwing away your money. And some women post like the majority of their pics in a different country. And I'm fairly certain those pics are spaced out by years...

The whole point of a dating profile is to show off the real you. Not the part of you that's on vacation which I hope is not too often. When people start posting so many travel pics I feel like they're overcompensating for something. Or maybe they just suck managing money.

Women are more likely to prioritize traveling than men. Men will list traveling on their profiles to attract these women, though it is often a bait & switch, just used to attract the women. I pass by all women who list this on their profile, for I'm not looking to provide that lifestyle to anyone. Rather than seeking a connection, people often are more likely to seek a lifestyle. If you're more interested in the connection, be clear about that in your profile. Most profiles are written vague and general, as people don't want to limit their opportunities. By being specific, you'll attract those who relate to your priorities and reduce the time spent with those you feel no connection with.

My idea of traveling is camping and fishing a few hours or more away for a few days. Which can be far cheaper than going on a date in one evening. Granted, I never listed “travel” when I did the dating apps thing. Also, I tended to avoid those women as they were either being cliché or yeah, travel broke... which I did not wish to become. Equally, I avoid those who listed being Annual Disney Pass holders. I rather spend a month in Chile for the cost of a day in any of the Disney resorts and I will definitely have a far greater time.

For some it IS a lifestyle. We have some friends that delight in telling others that they "just flew back from Cali" (California) or that they are going to "jet over to Breck" (Breckenridge in Colorado).
For the rest of us common folk, I think that a lot of people put it on their profiles because they view it as showing that are "cool, normal folks".

You can’t take it with you, travel is a choice. I prefer to spend money on experiences rather than things. My wife and have had the best times on trips. I wouldn’t date someone who hated travel, because I enjoy it.

You are exactly one of those types of guys I’m referring to! Unfortunately life doesn’t work that way and whether you like it or not you need money for “things” eg. House, retirement etc... There’s nothing wrong with going on holidays from time to time but if they talk about it like it’s a lifestyle or they are constantly going on expensive overseas trips all the time I just assume they are bad with money. If they are wealthy and can afford expensive holidays AND save enough money that’s a different story but a huge portion of guys talk about travelling and most with average types of jobs.

Yes that was one of the points I mentioned. If you’re wealthy and can afford to do it AND save enough for your future then go for it. If you’re an average person on a normal income stop trying to live the lifestyle of a rich person by blowing so much money on travelling all the time and never having enough money to reach your long term goals. It’s all about living within your means.

Travel cheaply. Road trip (in a car, not an RV) and camp most nights. Get an older truck and put a pop-up on it. Sleep in hostels, cook your own food. I know people who've been all over on not much money.
