Why aren’t women encouraged to succeed in life?

On GAG, it seems that it is frowned upon for women to have any career or educational prospects. There is a lot of gossip about the only way for a woman to get ahead in life is to marry for money. Otherwise a woman is destined to be poor. Or that men hate educated ambitious women and rather a marry the lazy high school drop out instead. Smart women are unappealing while ditzy low IQ ones are appreciated. Women are pressured to become housewives otherwise they will be bullied. A woman wanting to become president is a disgrace because all women should ever be entitled to in life is to pop out a few babies.

There is a lot of gossip about how all women marry for money because we are generally assumed by society to be unable to sufficiently support ourselves.

But in real life , many of us have college degrees or even graduate degrees , work professional jobs, drive our own cars, have our own houses.
What is up with all of this? Sounds like women are still second class citizens

Anytime a career question is asked on here I read comments that are only positive from guys, so I don't know where you see this?

I personally find an independent woman (career) extremely attractive. However, sometimes, with some women there's an attitude that goes with it, that can be the turn off for sure. Like she's better than you kind of thing. Or she'll judge you and your career based on hers. Those things are negatives for sure. But if they aren't there and she's just successful, great! Good for her! That's awesome.

I don't know. I want to marry an independent woman with ambitions in life to succeed. Thats the kind of woman who can set the best example for her children too.

Might sound smart but thats how it should be. Think about it, lets think about the kind of woman a man would want his daughter to grow up to be, so why not encourage women, empower them and learn from them.

I think it would be natural to want the best for your daughter by encouraging her to be as independent as possible. Not some girl who can’t divorce her abusive husband cus she can’t earn a decent living on her own

It's the current status quo that embodies this kind of mindset. And all the women that are complacent in the toxic behavior are as much to blame for supporting their often abusive, or racist/misogynistic husbands.

It scares them to lose their property. If a woman can think for herself, take care of herself, and overall be independent, they wouldn't need to depend on their usually loser husbands.
