I used to get compliments for my long hair all the time... nobody cared if I misheard them and if they did say something like that ide assume it wasn’t intended and ask them what...
I wouldn't like it, because it will seem obviously like a compliment that underrated my ability to recognize it.
However if said more than once, and seems genuine I'll like it.

Most people seem to love my naturally curly hair. So I get that compliment once in a while.

Well, i hear this compliment all the time therefore, it wouldn't make a difference. I would smile and that's out of politeness. If you want to compliment a girl, try complimenting her about something small, something the others wouldn't have noticed. Something SHE didn't notice about herself. Trust me, she would be thinking about it the whole day :)
Feels good of course, I always appreciate compliments. Especially after doing things like getting a haircut and some newer clothes, because it helps me see that I made a good decision and it’s not just me that likes it, but others as well.
I usually dont get positive comments on my hair due to how "wild" I like it to be, but I like the compliments when they do come.
If I took the time to do my hair and someone finally noticed it, i would feel good.
I have had women come up and touch my hair while complimenting it. It feels good.
If I did that to a women though, I might get yelled at or fired. So I don't do that.
