Katanas with bo-hi or no bo-hi?

For some reason, I like them better without the groove. Not saying the groove kills a katana for me, but the blade just looks “cleaner” without it... Not my best analogy, but I just like for whatever reason. It looks more like a razor, like something that was meant to be sharp.
Is it blasphemy if I'm from Japan and think Western swords are generally useful, like with a broad hilt to protect the hands?

Whatever Mulan uses seemed to work. 😅
Bo-hi's make it look better.

What’s that?
It’s a samurai sword without a (sort of) hole running down the blade. The purpose of it is to reduce weight. I said ‘sort of’ a hole running down the blade’ because the groove should never go all the way through, and it shouldn’t be too deep into the depth of the blade.
@ConnorJHutton531 cool.
I really think samurai swords are quite beautiful.
I realize they're a tool of war, but really well made and precise.
Very true. I’ve got a new interest in samurai swords now because I just got into Overwatch and Genji uses a katana in the game. He’s such a cool character, and when he uses his katana it’s beautiful!
@ConnorJHutton531 @chris786 who would be interested in something like that? I can only imagine someone obsessed with Game of Thrones?

Nice.
I have a love of Asian women and I used to watch a lot of ninja movies growing up.
I relate Katanas to ninjas and women with beautiful exotic looking eyes.
@On_cloud_wine I like swords - period. I was born with this interest, I guess. That, and it’s in every man’s DNA to fight (or at least to be aggressive in some way 🤷♂️). Swords are a thing of beauty, and they do not have to be used for killing. Felling pumpkins on Halloween, that is fun! 👍🏻👍🏻

And in the movies I watched the ninja women used to like organize their weapons and keep them displayed on the wall of their dojo like a collection.
The Katanas are the coolest.
@Chris786 Yeeeah! 🗡 (too bad there isn’t a katana emoji ☹️...)
@ConnorJHutton531 there
There should be.
When I was young my dad made me a Katana at work out of sheet metal and my uncle cut me out a real throwing star.
Those were the good old days.
