How can I completely stop Norton and McAfee renewal popups?

I had both at one time but quit because they both wanted to sell me more and more protection. This isn't the first time they have spammed me. Now it is every 30 seconds. How do you stop it?

- Turn off their pop up notification from their app

- Go in your laptop settings and take away their permission to send you notification.

- Turn off their auto-Updates and make it manual

One Antivirus is enough, Mcafee is Decent!

Never have more than one antivirus on your system, they clash and Fight for Authority and cause Problems.. also Been th Companies try to Sabotage other antivirus app and they turn your PC into a Battlefield loading your Device of Precious RAM!

I have McAfee on my PC with 1 yr Free service and Around Mark of 350 days I reset my PC windows Making a Reset in McAfee.. and throw in a New Email address 😂 it works like a charms already Reset the PC 5 Times and Been Using it for almost 5 Years.. not a Dime Spend!.

I have Set up strict permission from Core of Windows making me Less Vulnerable to attacks and I Sandbox anything that is Risky!

These are fake. So first step, for the real ones uninstall these antiviruses completely. Windows Defender will take over automatically and you are now fine.

But the second fake ones are browser notifications. You accidentally agrees to malicious notifications that keep doing this.

So look up the notification settings for the browser that you use and delete all the strange sites that are in there. That will put a stop to it.

If you can't figure it out feel free to DM, I do this stuff for a living.

Go into your settings and uninstall that shit , if you can’t figure it out then take it to Geek Squad at Best Buy or find a place that works on computers to have them clean it out for you. Otherwise you will be dealing with that shit non stop. It will probably run you about 75 bucks or more to have it cleaned out by them , unless you do it yourself , if you know what you are doing or if you know someone that can do it for you , if we lived closer I would do it for you , well at least try lol

Anti-virus is a pyramid scheme with windows defender at the top. You can look for specialized Uninstaller or you can do a "clean" windows installation but ya, windows defender is very effective.

You could even make an argument to say Microsoft in a round about way effectively owns Norton and McAfee.

Basically, Norton and macafee were having financial issues, Microsoft suddey started getting a bunch of "grants" from the government and then all of a sudden everytime there was cyber security news the article was about how a company that wasn't Microsoft handled the threat and "collaborated" with Microsoft. And a bunch of the smaller firms disappeared... I'm pretty sure I remember they were getting bought out. And now Norton McAfee and windows are like the justice league of the internet and as much as they all try to act like they're different there's literally no chance in hell I'm buying that

When I get a new computer first order of business is to find all their files and deleate the fucking shit out of them. I've been on computers for 30 years and I can deal with a virus myself... in fact I consider that anti-virus software to be the real virus. If you miss a file, no worries...

Hit control alt deleate and pull up task manager... look for what's popping up to make it run and then clean house from there.

These are not really from McAfee. They are scams.

There are many videos on You Tube that will tell you hoe to remove them. It depends on what browser you are using and what version of Windows you have. This is one of them.

As someone else has mentioned, remove (assuming they are currently installed) them using Revo-uninstaller (there's a free version), not only will it uninstall those programs, but it will give the option to delete any files they have left behind.

Yeah. Just google up uninstall norton. They have their own software for that. Same for McAffe.

After that, assuming windows, make sure your Windows Defender is active and running. It really is enough now. 10 years ago it was awful and you basically hsd to disable it and get a real antivirus, like Norton, but today Windows Defender is nearly as good and comes for free with a lighter burden on your pc.

@Iron_Man it is free for me because I use the account I have where I work but for most people there is a cost. You can find out on the website. I have used their tech support and they were very responsive and like I said, Norton was not very effective. We made the switch 20 years ago.

Bitdefender offers a little bit better protection then Sophos, they have both free and premium versions. Free version will suffice if you just need basic virus protection, if want/need a little more protection, Amazon currently has Bitdefender Total Security for for $20, it covers devices.

I had dropped McAfee for Norton. When I dropped Norton too for being too expensive, they both rebelled and kept sending me pop ups saying my computer was infected with 10 or more viruses.
