Girls, what makes you swipe right?

Trying to develop a better dating app profile. I am skeptical this can work at all, but what makes you swipe right on a profile?

My response will be pretty similar to some others on here... but a big portion of whether or not I’ll swipe on someone is indeed their appearance.
And the unfortunate thing is that literally thousands of guys have NO idea how to post even a slightly decent photo of themselves.
No, I don’t want to see you holding a dead bloody deer or fish bro 💀 you’d be surprised how many guys post those kinds of pics and think it’s even in the slightest bit appealing... or those guys who post group photos and I’m like okay I’m just supposed to guess which one you are? Like wtf.


I feel like a lot of dating apps don’t have enough options for putting stuff into bios... because at the end of the day when someone is swiping through a profile that’s literally allll we have to work with.
So options like favorite color, favorite food, favorite past time activity, favorite book, favorite movie etc etc helps to fill in some of that “personality” that we all try so hard to discern from photos.


Overall, I feel like strict guidelines for photos... like having a “verification” step every time someone wants to provide a pic... to make sure it actually looks decent and presentable... would be really annoying for the developers and even the users on the app... but overall it could make it much much easier for people to actually find and match with others.


Since at the end of the day a profile is only going to be viewed for maybe 20 seconds at the most. And a lot of guys really botch those 20 seconds just in their profile pics.

I mean, there are plenty of women who like deer and fish, so I feel like those guys are intentionally trying to appeal to that segment.
I never have though, and never really got much for matches either.

This is a personal list, as every gal is different.
1. Minimum three pictures
2. Most of the photos are NOT group photos
3. No photos of JUST cars or pets
4. No Instagram/Snapchat/Social Media accounts in bio
5. Bio doesn't say "ask to find out" & nothing more
6. Pictures MUST show your face (SMILE!!!)
7. Interests/likes/dislikes listed in bio (non sexual)
8. Says what he's looking for (friend, friends with benefits, SO, hookup, etc)
9. No sexual content in bio.

Fair enough. I would say mine fit all those, with the exception that I don't have many great smiling photos.

For me it would be signs of independence and availability and freeness - So I would look at his posture and his photo background and his eyes

Also personal opinion.

1. More than two pictures (high quality).

2. The pictures vary. They don't show only the face from the same angle, same facial expression with different backgrounds. Show how you look like (full body, face)

3. Don't wear shades in all of the pictures (even if you look cool in them). I want to see your eyes!

4. The bio is not as important to me. Some people put pictures that clearly show their hobbies.

5. And I know that not everyone wants to share the fact that they just want to hook up or date seriously. But if I see a profile matching my expectations then I'll definitely swipe right instead of wondering if he wants the same or not.

Most important if he looks like my type on the photos. Shows a nice big smile, various angles where I can clearly see his face (no sunglasses), a full body pic from which I can tell his body type. No drunken photos, filters, topless in the bathroom or 'showing-off car' photos.
It is also nice if he write something personal in his profile I can relate to and ask about. Like if we have a common special interest, at least if I should write first to him.
If he is not exactly my type but looks ok and has a funny profile text then I will also swipe right. Unless he is taller than 6'2'', it gets too tall for my liking and there are plenty of women who like tall men for that guy xD

Attractive face, thats it. Online dating is like that, because you can't know someone's personality through a screen. Work on taking flattering pics of yourself , thats it.

Its not worthless, it just wouldn't show up online. Plus some people have a gala time on Tinder because they are photogenic or just know how to take great pics, put the right filters on them and boom- way more matches than real life. Plus it would take the pressure off talking face to face
