Basically, you just said, "my car don't work. Why?" There's a million different reasons your girlfriend is crying, and it's your job as World's Best Boyfriend to fix it. So here's what you do:
    1. Sit down beside her and touch her somehow. (Things that are good for this: hug or put your arm around her. Things that are bad for this: putting hand on her forehead or chest.)
    2. Talk with her. Really, just let her vent. Trust me a bitch has 99 problems and you are one. It's kinda like turning the engine off or unplugging the power before you fix it. If you skip this and go straight to trying to fix it, it doesn't go well for you.
    3. Sort the information. Well, you just had the Big Encyclopedia of Problems recited aloud to you, you're sure of it. But there were some things along the way that stood out. Figure out why.
    4. Dig deeper. This is where you can start to figure out more stuff. Repeat the things that stood out back to her. She'll even believe you were listening sometimes! She'll add more details which is crucial to the next step.
    5. Diagnose the problem. Don't believe a single word she said. She's lying to you, but it's the only way to tell what she's feeling. Do not tell her what she's feeling. If you do this, she is no longer feeling insecure or anxious, she is now feeling angry. (Side note. If you tell her she's feeling angry. She is now feeling more angry).
    6. Fix the problem. Help her feel more secure or appreciated or loved by doing something yourself, not telling her what to do. Sometimes you're right. Sometimes your wrong. If you can't figure it out, you can even stop at part 2. That's okay.

I hope this helped, friend. You can now fix your leaky girlfriend!

I'll be speaking from my perspective and just saying what I'd expect my boyfriend to do if I cried. (by the way my boyfriend and i are doing long distance. he lives in the future.)

Anyways, if I was crying, the first thing I'd like to happen is for my boyfriend to ask me what's wrong and try to calm me down. He could do this by giving me a hug and being very gentle. Another thing girls like is presents. If she's having a bad day, go get her something. It doesn't have to be anything fancy; personally I'd be very happy if my boyfriend got me something like a small box of chocolates. Or if he paid for my Netflix.
You also have to be supportive, not dismissive. It doesn’t matter if you don't agree with her issues. Reassure her that you’re there for her. You could say stuff like: "I know that this must feel terrible right now. I'm so sorry." Just doing that will make her feel like you're on her side and you support her.
Stay away from giving advice. Trust me. You'd probably just tick her off. You're supposed to be helping her feel better; not emphasizing how bad the problem is. Most people are upset because there is no easy solution. So don't try to offer her one. She's more than likely thought it all out before, and your advice will just keep her circling around how "hopeless" her problems are.
Stay positive. If you're positive then that optimistic energy will [hopefully] start to rub off on her. Constantly remind her that things will get better.
Be patient with her. Don't push her to become happy right away. You should watch, wait, and know when to act. It may take a while for your girlfriend to open up depending on how upset she is. Knowing when to act can only happen if you two keep communicating and talking with each other. Keep asking her if she’s ready to talk about it.

    I hope that helps.

    - Hug her.
    - Listen to her.
    - Support her.
    - Uplift her.
    - Do not minimize her problems.
    - Do not tell her how to fix it.
    - Offer affection.
    - Ask questions to why she is crying.
    - Put yourself in her shoes.
    - Offer to do some things for her (etc. clean up, help her move stuff, etc.)
    - Do not stop them from crying, allow her emotions to come out.
    - Show her you care.
    - Do not interrupt.
    - Ask if there is anything you can do to help her.
    - Say "I'm here if you need me. I will do anything to help you."

-Stick your dick in her. Sometimes after a hard day that's all she really needs.

She doesn't want you to solve her problem. She just wants you to put your arms around her, dry her tears, tell her everything will be okay and, if you are also sad about whatever has happened, they cry with her. That's all you need to do, but DO NOT launch into any logical analysis of the situation and what the options are, etc. That's guy talk and that's NOT what she needs when she's crying.

Depends what she is crying for. If you have any clue about it, and know that you're absolutely not involved in the reason, be close to support her morally, but keep your mouth shut if not asked stuff.
An woman during an emotional breakdown is like a boobie trap. Touch that hair-trigger mechanism and you'll spend the remainder of the week hoping you didn't.

Grab hold of her and shake her violently while telling her to calm down and get a hold of herself, a few slaps in the face will help. Do not stop until she stops crying.

There there now. Just shut the fuck up. :)
The truth is, you just sit idly by and let her emote. That's just what they do.
And for god's sakes, don't be breaking down into tears every time she does.

The truth is, women look to their man to be their emotional rock. To be their lighthouse in their stormy seas of feelings and emotions all swirling around in that little head. Just be there, listen, don't try to fix it. It is and always was all about their FEELINGS.
