I don't know if unlucky is the right term but what you said in your question is more likely to happen especially with people who don't pursue or chase the one they are physically attracted but instead are laid back and wait for things to happen.

In such cases they are depending and hoping that someone very beautiful, physically attractive person will like them.

You ever get to know someone you’re not physically attracted to at first, but then you get to know him and you like him even more? Never in your whole life?

Instead of going for a 10 in every single category, why not prioritize? Go for a 6 and perhaps you’ll have influence on him to make himself look better. I know a few women that have and are happy. If that doesn’t work out, well their is always mail-order.
