Do guys not no the difference between being friends with a girl and being more than friends? I mean if you'd ever kiss a girl on her cheek, hold her hands, play with her hair, and introduce her to all your friends more than once, and have all of them tease you with her? Would that just be friends? And what if after all that, when I ask to take it to the next level he says he doesn't want to lose our friendship? I mean either Man up and say you don't like me and don't want to take this further, or admit to have getting carried away now coming to the realisation that you don't want to commit? I have lost all hope, I am never getting close to a man again let alone develop feelings only to be gaslighted in the end. Please share your valuable insights and advice, thanks. What do I do now?

They know the difference. They are simply stringing you along to believe otherwise to get all the benefits of a relationship without having the commitment - sex, attention, ego boost, companionship, compliments and more. You have control over the situation however. You need to stand up for yourself, set boundaries, emotionally and physically distance yourself, have a life/happiness outside of him, don’t have sex, and believe actions not words. Let him know that you do not appreciate when misleading and manipulating things are being said and done in order to confuse you about his intentions.
