Am I doing the wrong thing by not responding to my boyfriend?

My boyfriend had to take a business trip to Boston this week. He originally asked me to come on Wednesday night when I was out of town and he was leaving Friday. He asked if I wanted to meet him up there. I said if I could find cheap flight. He was supposed to pick me up Thursday from airport day before he left. He ended up being too hungover to pick me up. I got mad at him but it blew over. Thursday night he came over. And he said we will talk about getting you up to Boston, just text me when you wake up tomorrow morning and I’ll have landed. Hours went by with no talk of Boston. I got annoyed and said flight prices were going up and he was like are you trying to come and I was frustrated bc he acted like we hadn’t talked about it. He was being rlly short with me and I told him it didn’t seem like he wanted me to come. Long story but he went to baseball game Friday night, wasn’t texting me back, got so drunk and couldn’t find way back to hotel , called his parents who were trying to help him navigate by find my friends. his phone was showing he was in Boston commons park at night at like 3am but he wasn’t answering , I got so worried he was drunk so called the cops to check the park al the way from Florida. This went on for hours and finally his hotel did a wellness check and he had made it back and passed out. He made no efforts to see what time my flight was getting in and my flight was at 7am the next morning. I just felt he didn’t care so I ate the cost of the flight and didn’t go. He called me 16 times the next day (yesterday) and texted me and I haven’t answered yet. He knows I’m upset but I haven’t even received a sorry text. I don’t know if I’m in the wrong and should communicate or wait for him to try harder. I don’t want to play a game but don’t want to be disrespected. Please give my honest opinion.

When he called me 16 times and texted me he was like “I hope you’re on your way up here on a flight” but the whole day before he made no effort to give me any details or anything..

Y'all are both being immature. He's a man. Bless their hearts they have the communication skills of spoons. You icing him out for something that he doesn't even know he's done is ridiculous.

He's not going to figure it out on his own. Explain to him how you're feeling and why you did what you did and then either get over it or end the relationship. I'm not saying you're wrong for being mad, but at this point, you're only going to make the situation worse/more confusing by ignoring him.

He clearly thought (incorrectly) that all the details were settled and then got wasted. I think you were being immature by not going, but what's done is done. Should he have gotten so drunk that he needed a welfare check? No, probably not, but also on your end, you knew he was very drunk and still got mad that he wasn't acting like a logical sober person in preparation for your arrival the next morning.

I am a 71-year-old man... so not a kid, I know this will be hard to hear, but he sounds like an alcoholic. I know because in 1989 I got sober and have remained sober since. He is not in control of his life. Sadly you cannot compete with the bottle. Unless he can stop, you are not going to be #1 in his life...
As a test, ask him to stop drinking for 2 weeks, I will bet he cannot go 48 hours... It's not the end of the world AA is free and it works.
