My boyfriend hasn’t been responsive in text lately. Should I reach out or leave him alone?

Sometimes he’s going through things; I assume he wants to be left alone and unbothered. But vice versa, he starts spamming and calling my phone until I answer. I know for a fact he’s alive I would often notice his online status.
