Don’t You Hate Texting?

Question

So me and him have been texting/sending pics (not the type you’re thinking about!!) etc for a couple of weeks now. And I was starting to get attached... he was so cute and just wow.

Then the texting got dead, I asked him if he was okay to which he said he was... he stayed boring so I didn’t respond.

It’s the next day and he didn’t message me again 😔 now I have to find someone new as cute as him.

Why is life like this? Why is texting like this? I hate texting and I hate this generation who normalise the ‘talking’ phase. I just want to admit I like u, date, and do what we need to do lol. Ahhhh.

You've been texting too long. Are you guys going to go on a date or just waste time? I like to schedule a date within about 5 days. People like to catfish. Like the girl I was talking to I finally got a recent pic of her and she looks nothing like her profile pics.

Women back in the good old days would pick their man by dropping their scarf allowing him to pick it up and start a conversation with her. He of course would live the rest of his life thinking it was his idea to approach her when it wasn't.

I am definitely one person who hates texting for a long time. I love texting as a way to start a conversation, but it definitely leads to distrust and confusion, especially when it comes between whether you believe you're talking to the person they say they are. For me, a few conversations (and for me that's pretty much every single one ) I pretty much start getting the feeling the person I'm talking with is not Being truthful about the gender they are. Is not automatic, but it does start when certain things are said that only a guy would say. Now you may say I'm just paranoid , until I'm proven right. I do enjoy starting the conversation texting, but when one of those triggers hit, I feel there's nothing wrong with using one of the options in the chat room that pretty much eliminate all doubt (audio messaging, using the chat telephone, clicking on the webcam option, etc). Now what gets me is, most of the complaints I get from the other person our statement is saying that gives away too much information. Which is not true because whatever information you've already given to make the account in the chat room is already in my access. So, I confront them asking “what additional information do you need to give? Because, the site never asked me for anything more for me to use it.”if you ask me, texting has become a weapon. A weapon that was put in place to protect women, is now being used so that people can hide their gender and can manipulate others for their sexual desires

I've read a book and the author of it actually describes that the phone is for setting dates, and nothing more. He preaches that you only should send a few message back and forth, and then just meet up in person.
I love his view on this, but I don't believe this is the case anymore in the modern world. I feel that this especially is the case for girls because they usually have multiple guys texting them all the time, and they are used to texting all the time.

Also I feel like in the modern age we are almost programmed to be connected to our phones all the time, and I notice it for myself as well. And the bottom line is, when you actually meet up in person after texting all the time, what are you going to talk about...

I am not a texter, in fact... I have a auto text response setup that says "Call me if you want to talk, I may never respond to this text."

Oh I do respond though, might take me a few days, maybe weeks, possibly even a couple of months, but I do usually respond.

People tend to get upset when I do, though... like WTF, you just responded to this message from two months ago that you never responded to.

Well if its important they should call me. I text slower than frozen molasses going uphill in the winter time. I did try for sure, but I am soo slow at texting, I gave up. I can spend an hour replying to a message that takes 30 seconds to verbally chat about. Decided I'm not going to waste my time if someone is too lazy to call me.

You could try just being more assertive though, saying... I like you, would you like to date? are you interested?

If he isn't... well your in the same situation you are now... on to someone else.

I am before the cell phone era... let's be honest I am before internet era, and DVDs. LOL I remember when the first big screen TV came out...
I don't understand how texting can form a relationship same with dating sites.
Whatever happened to going out! Meeting someone SEEING they are real and what they say they are. Have you met this guy? If not then all you have gotten attached too is words. Anyone can tell you anything. Obviously the guy ran out of stuff to feed you and moved on.

He must of got bored and became not interested in you anymore. Guys are weird when it comes with communication. Don't think you should be finding a cute guy like him. You should find a guy who is handsome, good personality, treat you well with respect, and is good with communication. If you ever dated that guy who stopped talking to you, he wouldn't treat you right anyways. I stay away from guys who act like they are interested in me and ghost.

I limited texting very deliberately with dates. It's not so much that I hated it but I worked remote jobs where I saw my colleagues get into arguments and fights online that they wouldn't have gotten into if they were face-to-face in person. There's a whole lot of miscommunication and misunderstanding that can occur without being next to each other in person.

So far I've met 4 women online and played the text game. A hooker, a pic fakeout, a woman who was trying to sell me something and a narcissist who gambled all my money away and was cruel beyond belief. The lying. OMG! So many times her lies have been contradictory. Anyway I've come to understand that there is no way to make sense of a narcissist or reason with them. AKA there is no way to actually communicate with a narcissist.

So I've had that experience.

Just find someone else. But if there hasn't been any movement on actually meeting the guy by three days then drop bait and try again. There is no guarantee the guy will be worth it so don't invest too much time.

I absolutely 100% completely agree. Texting is fine once you fully know someone, or at least know them enough that you're at the point of actually dating. You need to have actual phone conversations prior to moving forward to that stage. Nothing but texting from the get-go when trying to learn about someone new is frustrating and annoying.

Nowadays it’s texting, texting, texting & in my world I’m lucky if I send three or four text messages a week & with all honesty I rather talk to people face to face or over the phone. On the flip side I always tell people if you have time to text you have time to call so give me a ring a ding ding.

Pro tip: Don't ever ask a man if he's okay. (Unless he's a mama's boy.). Most of us don't like that. As a man, we're supposed to ALWAYS be okay. It's not an option. We just face our challenges and get things done. We don't have time to "be in our feelings.". So, in the future, I'd encourage you to avoid asking those types of questions to a guy if you want to have an actual conversation with him.

Face to face is of course way nicer (and most people probably doubt texts to some extend so feel voice or face to face are more genuine - I try to skip from text to face to face rather than use the phone much except if you really know each other (have had a girl in my bad call her boyfriend and call him 'darling' then have sex with me, so still in shock from that)

Me personally I'm a huge texter unless I made plans with someone to go somewhere I don't really like calling because I feel like you can communicate things over text if you are efficient but for me personally I prefer to communicate with someone face to face.

Majority of effective communication is done through nonverbal body language. Words (texting) are only a small portion of communication.

Whenever you are talking to someone important, it's important to do it face to face. Its way more fun that way.

People misinterpret what other's try to communicate since about 90 - 98% is through face to face interaction.
Only up to 10% Is through text and people misinterpret because of different ways how we perceive and communicate with words.

Apparently this is the hypocrisy of women that has given them a bad rep. When lots of times really good guys like you and you keep them at bay, just texting them when u feel like it and set them aside when u are bored.
