Thanks for the replies! This time it was asked to meet for a drink, but someone said that it shouldn't become a habit and that the man should do the chasing as if the woman is constantly asking then that's giving off a masculine energy but if she steps back and let the man chase then that gives off a feminine energy.

I have never been asked on a formal date by a woman directly because I think the two are non-sequitur and it would be creepy if she handed me a corsage e. g. lol. However, I am asked out indirectly a lot and much of it starts with a business/work excuse but then evolves to date/mate. I can tell up front when it is bullshit, but play along if I want to be with her. I don’t have a problem with women pursuing me; it always works better that way, anyways—that is >90% of my “dates.” In my younger years, a couple examples: a woman (I knew her) asked for a ride from work and she told me to pull over, we spent the night in the car sexing it up. Another thing they seem to use a lot is while sitting in a booth (or just side-by-side), they will lean on me, or start banging their shoulder into mine, very obviously intentionally, sometimes slamming. This female approach has happened to me many times actually, always ended the same with eventual sex; I guess I spend too much time sitting in booths with women. One took the nasty approach, and just simply threw things at me to get my attention. That really was her way of asking me out in the end—I think in her case she that was all her emotions allowed her to do. Those are things I can relate to in a woman, lol. In retrospect, women ask by actions or excuses mostly and a direct “ask” may challenge the male ego a bit, but I wouldn’t care. This does put the onus and the risk-of-rejection on women, especially with no context, and keep in mind some guys might find those proverbial cahones an attractant but probably an extreme macho would crumble, shatter like glass.

Maybe a little bit, in that it's being assertive and taking decisive action. But that's not a bad thing at all; remember that every last one of us comes from both a man and a woman, and has attributes usually associated with both. Think Taoism, not Manicheanism. It's true that men are mostly attracted to more feminine traits, but that doesn't mean just passivity, nurturing, and cupcakes.

The only kind of guy who's going to be put off by you asking him out (especially if it's a more casual thing, or a first date) is the kind of guy who's so ultra-traditional that he wouldn't like the kind of girl who WOULD ask him out.

If you doubt this, ask guys you know whether they'd rather go out with Cinderella or Antigone.

No, not at all. I think men are more cautious in recent times about making first moves, for fear of not reading signs correctly. So a woman making this more easy is a welcome thing.

No not at all. I would be incredibly flattered if a girl asked me out. I would almost certainly say yes. That said, if you think a guy might not be receptive to that, a suggestion is to simply tell him that if he asked you out, you'd say yes.

What you are describing isn't masculine or feminine; but predator and prey. The idea that men have to chase women is the driving force behind rape culture and has led to toxic masculinity and toxic femininity. A relationship is about mutual give and take; not about one person chasing after the other person.
