Why do women do this?

Why do women spend so much time trying to look as good as they can to attract men, and then when men are attracted to them, the women treat them like shit?

First of all you mean why did one or a few particular women do this to you?
For us to give the exact reason to why the woman behaved this way towards you we would have to know more details on the interaction between you and the woman. We would need to know how long you knew this woman how well you knew her how did the conversation go between the two of you and her exact reaction.
Just like not all men are jerks not all women are cruel.
A few things know about women:
If we choose to dress up it's usually because we want to feel good about ourselves. We don't do so so men can find us attractive but if men finds us attractive then that's ok. And even if we do dress up to impress that doesn't mean we're going to want or be interested in every single man who finds US attractive. And let's be realistic if a woman was to be responsive to EVERY SINGLE man WHO LOOKED HER WAY IT WOULD BE MEN who would immediately call her a whore. So you can't knock us down and call us shitty for not being responsive to every man especially if we were to do the opposite and pay every man attention we would end up being knocked down and called a whore. Thats just tactless. Thats a double edge sword.
Obviously we have to turn men down. After all we're only one woman. And society looks very down upon woman who have more than one man... So it's a lose-lose situation. My goodness cut us women some slack here. It's not right it's not fair. We're not responsible for a man's ego. Sometimes in life the only thing we can control is how we choose to react. Our egos are in our own control.
And not all rejection is bad. Some rejection is necessary. And not all women reject men cruelly. And respectfully ignoring or not given into a man's attention is not cruel it's just part of life. The majority of women do not go out and start their day thinking hmm how many balls can I bust today and how many men can I shoot down.
For the most part most women react to Man based on how he is treating her. If he's coming off wrong and rude and crude then of course she's going to get upset.
However if a man is respectful then he's most likely going to receive a respectful response. A respectful response can be accepting or rejecting. If it turns out to be a rejection that does not mean she's treating the Man shitty! It simply means she's either not interested or not available. And there is nothing wrong with either one a woman has a right to not be interested and she has a right to not be available.

Because their main goal is to get as much attention from the guys as they can. They are not interested in talking to them or dating them. Just like the Instagram girls.

Men value beauty a lot more often than women do. Women value emotional intimacy and receive that by being taken out on dates and listened to. We put on our best self in the dating phase. Most tend to let that go as they become more comfortable which is a massive mistake. As we let ourselves go in these ways, it builds resentment from both ends hence why women treat men like shit when they feel they aren’t being treated as if they’re special or if they’re lacking in emotionally intimate conversations. Men tend to put less effort when their partner doesn’t put an emphasis on her appearance and doesn’t regularly offer sex. The cycle inevitably leads to divorce or breakup.

Best advice I could give to anyone starting to date is to never stop dating them. Always take your woman out on dates and always put your best foot forward to fulfill her emotional needs putting them ahead of your own needs when needed. Women need to be selfless in their approach, and they need to realize that we as men have different needs that might not make sense to them. We desire admiration, sex, respect, and shared recreational interests. Sex is a big one and women need to stop being offended by that. If we fill each other up in these ways fulfilling their needs without becoming “too comfortable” and consistently put your best foot forward, then monogamy works a lot better.

Fortunately, not all women are like that. I think that some women engage i the battle of the sexes primarily to stroke their own egos. They dress nicely because it enhances their self-confidence and they use their appearance as a tool to attract men. When they then reject those men, it makes them feel that absolute sense of power which feeds their ego needs.

The men who are rejected move on and find a sane woman for a real relationship. The women who are like this develop a hyperinflated ego and a lonely life.

Why then if a woman dresses nice or looks good, it's automatically assumed it's to attract a man... But then if a woman don't dress nice or look good, she'll get insulted/attacked for that... Just my personal opinion, but I think for the most part when someone does their best to look good, it's primarily to feel good about themselves. That said, as far as treating others poorly, they may not really know how to treat others well (treated so poorly themselves) or they simply don't respect others.

Well it takes time to figure out whether you two are compatible. In the beginning everyone is nice because you haven't annoyed or pissed each other off yet. Once you've been together long enough, that can lead to changing their attitude toward the other person.

I don't know what kinda girls you associate with that behave like this but I dress VERY casually almost everywhere I go. No makeup, shorts and t-shirts is my usual get up. I have no interest in attracting Joe Blow at the supermarket.

I like to look nice when I go out anywhere because it makes me feel good about myself. It’s not to attract a man because I already have one. It gets tiresome when guys keep hitting on you when it’s not welcome and many of them don’t respond to the polite approach, so you have to adopt a more forceful attitude to make them leave you alone. As an experiment, I wore my grandmothers wedding ring out one night and it did nothing to deter guys. Sorry to burst your bubble but that’s been my experience.
