There’s a mutual attraction between myself and a coworker. We went on a few dates last summer but he told me he didn’t want anyone getting hurt - he went through a difficult breakup with his ex a year before. We’ve continued to text and chat in work but we haven’t met up out of work since. I believe he’s got trust issues from being so badly hurt in the past. Due to my last relationship I’m in no rush to settle down and would like to take things slow with this guy getting to know each other properly. How can I tell him this without scaring him off? Flirting and a drunk text from him to me suggests he’s stopping his true feelings through fear of history repeating itself which it most definitely wouldn’t with me.
