Can I a 19 year old girl date a 17 year old guy?

So there is this 17 year old guy who likes me & I like him too the only thing is that I am 19. We just recently started talking & seeing each other haven’t done anything but just going out to eat etc … he’s a nice guy , funny , understandable & mature for his age. I have told him about how I felt between our age differences especially on what will others & his parents think of us dating. His mom knows he’s talking to someone but hasn’t met me yet. I do feel worried especially that he had to lie to his mom about my age , and said I was 18. I have tattoos so I asked him if his mom would say anything if she met me for the first time & he said yes. He told me his mom is strict that’s what worries me. He said he doesn’t have a problem dating me it’s just his mom. I want to date him but then again I feel like it’s wrong. i told him I don’t mind talking or seeing him but I don’t think it’s right dating him he got bummed out & started saying if I would start looking for someone new & I said no. I never liked someone younger than me or been with anyone younger than me so what’s your opinion? what should I do in this situation?

You have to meet up with his mom one day and it's better to do it now than later. Go for dinner at their house or something and see how she reacts. Well that is in case she allows him to have you over. After that, depending on how it goes, deicide on whether you should keep pursuing this relationship with him or not. There's no point in pursuing this relationship if his mother is strictly against it unless he's willing to ruin his relationship with her (which is bad). You have to keep in mind that he still has to go to university yet and he can change a lot during that time.

I had a 21 year old girlfriend when I was 18 and an 18 year old girlfriend when I was 17. If his parents don't care, there's no issue, but if they do, don't date him until he's 18.

I'm pretty sure we've all come across a story where a couple, one underage one adult, were busted by an angry parent and the adult got labeled a sex offender... So yeah, especially since his mother might want to separate you two when she finds out. KEEP IT CLEAN.
Can't help his parent. Is he going off to college soon? If he lives in the dorms then you don't have to go to his house.

Yes I know this is the same reason I asked but lately I’ve been seeing people date people 3 years old & younger but honestly I’ve asked everyone else on my side they said it’s fine but if his mom is strict they wish me luck.
