Why is dating so hard?

I wish it was still simple and easy to meet people, I've been feeling like I need to move states to try to find someone to connect with because long distance doesn't ever work for me.

When I was a teen I thought I wanted to date, then I grew up and realised dating is like a job interview, and I really just want to meet someone I can trust and fall in love with.

Last year I put a lot of effort into dating apps, I went on a bunch of first dates with people and only a handful of second or third dates. It was draining, because I was trying to be genuine without being too much, trying to gauge if I actually got a long with them or if I just wanted it to workout.
As for the online dating part, everyone's trying to manufacture an interaction that feels real, but that's so hard when it's stripped of all human interaction.

So my thought is, dating is hard because it's high effort with no promise of a relationship.

Even worse though, dating is hard, but a bigger question is why can't I meet someone? And that's scary because we can arrange dates, we can flirt with strangers, but we can't control whether or not we'll meet a person that feels right for us.

So all I can say is hold onto the people close to you, love them and love yourself, and be open to love.

Yes I know. And long distance especially is indeed really hard. Well dating its hard and difficult until you meet the right one, then it doesn't matter anymore. Just keep an open mind and do things one day at a time. Don't become bitter and jaded and start to give up. Be patient. Sometimes someone wonderful can come into your life when you least expect it. Get off the electronic devices you use and go socialize. A lot of people looking for dates would usually find them by getting to know others in a social person to person way. If you don't gain a date you gain social experience if you don't gain a friend you gain a acquaintance or a fellow person you got to socialize with in general.

Just on dating apps the past 2 1/2 weeks. Started running my matches through reverse image lookup. Turns out about 70% of them are fake profiles with photos of fashion models, celebrities and porn stars. When I first started, maybe 9 in 10 “matches” took the convo off the app, to WhatsApp, or Kik, or hangouts, and then asked for free money. Gas money, lunch money, fun money. So the ones that seem legit, they will carry on for a couple of days in chat, then set up a date. Then ask for a $150 “donation” before they show up at the date. Two seemingly legit matches turned out to be trolling for fending sessions. So after about 18 days of chatting non stop with grifters and BS artists, I have one profile that may or may not be legit. And women wonder why guys just flat ghost on these apps.

Because women's standards are ridiculously, way, over-the-top too high nowadays and men less than an 8 out of 10 don't measure up, so everyone is left single and alone (even though it's more one side's fault than the other; but people will give me crap for pointing out the truth). No one really wants to date anymore; too many people just want to "hook up" and it's disgusting.

Third of all, whenever someone says something like this, it says more about them than anything. You just admitted to everyone that you only go after fuckboys, and that you dismiss any halfway decent men, but because you lack self-awareness and don't even realize this, you think "boys only like girls for sex" because those are the only ones you give the time of day too, even though good men are every fucking where. For a guy, its because for every 1 girl who will actualy want to connect with you and form an actual relationship. There are 100 who just want into your wallet. Also all the pressure for initiating and planning is on us. And while before we used to just get rejected which sucked, nowadays you can latterly end up in jail for approaching the wrong girl.
