I've come to resent and even dislike my ex but I can't mentally picture myself with any other woman. What do I do?

There's virtually no chance of us getting back together and I wouldn't really want it either but I can't envision another woman who puts up with me and how generally undesirable I am.

Because you haven’t met anyone else with the qualities you seek, so of course until someone else steps into the picture then you will keep having your ex at the forefront of your mind.
