Depends on how long you’ve been talking. In the very early stages this seems normal as some people aren’t fully comfortable speaking freely yet and still gauging what kind of topics would be appropriate between the two of you and etc. But if it’s been a while of you guys talking then yeah it’s not a good sign…

depends. It can be one or both of you are awkward or bad at conversations and it will get better over time naturally. People who know they are often having a hard time may really appreciate if you stick around.
It could be the other is actually not interested and is less and less responsive to topics you bring up, without making an effort to continue a conversation, but they don't know how to tell you to stop so they are trying to make the conversation die on its own. That happens sometimes with people I have never seen in person but we keep writing.
You will kind of have to guess which one it is, they may look similar from the outside.

During the beginning this is natural, as time progresses conversation should begin to flow more freely and generally it will be easier. It’s normal to have occasional silence.

People run out of things to say all the time no matter how much they have in common or how much they have thats different.
You gotta be ok with periods where neither of you say much, but if you have no hobbies in common, then thats a red flag.
