Should we always say exactly what we're thinking?

Absolutely not. I have all kinds of thoughts swirling in my mind. Unfiltered stuff has come out of my mouth before that wasn't appropriate, fully thought out, or even accurate. You should consider before you just blurt whatever is at the top of your mind. You should formulate your thoughts. You have options.
Communication requires diplomacy. And diplomacy requires intellect. That doesn't mean that you need to lie or be dishonest.

No. I think that would be bad. You need to use some socially appropriate filter. Honesty is good. Speaking your mind is good. Always saying exactly what you're thinking, is a terrible idea. Unless you're looking to be left alone. Because nobody would like someone who said everything they were thinking.

No. When you play poker you don't say or even let others know what for cards you have. If others know what you really think it's your tactical advantage. They might use it against you or not but better is they don't even have this tool beforehand.

I used to believe that we should but now I have recently studied stoi c philosophy and silence is best. Unwavering silence without reacting to what other people say, just remain very calm and silent.
